13 seasons (started 14 on Wednesday) in and Faith is still on my top ten list. It's the perfect Dean girl episode and REALLY showcases Jensen's acting chops. I know what you mean about wishing they'd healed Layla, but I think the episode is more effective this way. I use the quote: "I guess if you're gonna have faith, you can't just have it when the miracles happen. You have to have them when they don't" quite often. I think you'll start to notice that after this episode the writers realized that they could really go deep with the characters. That both Jared and Jensen could deliver with that kind of material. P.S. I also really appreciate getting to see Sam go to the ends of the earth to save his brother. We haven't always felt that Sam was just as devoted a brother as Dean is, but I think this episode totally rebuts that feeling.

2018-10-16 22:42:20 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favorite episodes for Season 1. We are finally getting to know the boys at a deeper level. I love those kind of episodes that delve into character and the inner mind of the boys. Sammy also gets to see that too, which I think was important. Dean likes to play the tough guy and not show any weakness. Both as the Big Brother, but also in general. And he is tough, but he's also a sweetie, deep down. Maybe not if you're a monster, but if you're someone in need of help, yep. He really wants to help people. I love these boys!!

I was especially looking forward to this reaction because I know how much you love Dean and this is a more Dean focused episode. It does feel different to the other episodes, I think because the case involved Dean whereas usually, they aren't so emotionally involved. I feel like we really get to see just how emotionally vulnerable Dean can be under the tough guy mask he often puts up and just how little he thinks of himself as he even said (to himself) that Layla deserved it more than he did. Great job again with the predictions!
