Stepping deeper into 3D modeling, my son has delivered his next final piece—his take on the USS Enterprise! Modeled entirely in Blender, this project marks a major milestone in his learning journey.
But before we dive into this release, we need to clear the air on the previous X-Wing & TIE Fighter releases and ensure proper credit is given where it's due.
When I first looked at my son's X-Wing & TIE Fighter models, something felt off—the textures were too polished for a brand-new 3D artist. So before release, I went ahead and fully retextured them from the ground up to better ensure it was our work at every level.
However, after taking a closer look later, I realized that while he modeled the ships himself, he had also used pre-made tutorial textures from the same learning material. Since I didn’t ask further before release, it's possible that some of the source base images may still remain in the diffuse.
This wasn’t intentional, and I always aim for full transparency with everything we release. I’ve since learned to better verify the origins of all textures before publishing.
This time, we’re doing it right—this USS Enterprise release is purely his work, and we’re making it free for all.
