The Riddler Speaks - Casefile #0084

TRS - Casefile #0084

EDWARD: Anonymous asks: Do you still have the hots for Catwoman? And anonymous asks: What do you think of Catwoman? And Mooseings asks: Now I may just be looking a little too much into a bedtime story, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was indeed a riddle wrapped up in a children's story. It sounds to me like you have some issues with Catwoman, or should I say Puss in Boots. Care to elaborate?

Well, well, well! Pulling no verbal punches today, I see! I'm glad to see that at least one of you picked up my little Puss in Boots story, considering how obvious I thought it was. Any resemblance to person or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental, of course. But stories can teach us so much about the real world. I won't deny I've been attracted to Catwoman - what sane, red-blooded man wouldn't be? Granted, she does have a tendency to be distracted by shiny things or bat-shaped objects, but I suppose you could file that under 'dedication to the part'. And, there is something rather charming about a woman who pairs intellect with an impressive right cross.

While I continue to admire her from an aesthetic standpoint however, it's no secret that I've gone off cats recently. Common wisdom dictates that you should keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, and I've usually been quite good at overlooking the odd betrayal. But while we've been at odds before, there was an incident in Rome, for example. There does come a time when one needs to draw the line. As it happens, Catwoman and I remained in contact during my brief foray into the right side of the law. At a time when even the henchgirls had left me to seek other, less legal pastures, it was occasionally gratifying to see a familiar face. Unfortunately, she persisted in keeping, shall we say, hostile company. And when it just so happened that yours truly was used as bait in a little scheme of hers? Kitty lost her indoor privileges. I'd like to think that she regretted using me; but despite what the courts think, I've never been delusional.
