The eternal struggle - within the narrative we want Jesse to get away from Walt, but as viewers we REALLY want them paired up and cooking. Breaking Bad was sort of a bookend on the first phase of "Prestige TV" - and also one of the last great water-cooler shows. The way EVERYONE was talking about the cliff-Hanker the day after this aired -- it was just a national conversation in a way TV rarely is anymore. What a group of powerhouse actors.
