I still think it’s ridiculous but I enjoyed hearing you talk about the ridiculousness. It’s crazy that something I think is this stupid has this much money behind it. Much more brilliant things have been done for less.

2024-10-31 00:20:22 +0000 UTCOh man the SCP got a big return in the internet recently among old heads cause of that extremely well written and horrifying story about the ethics commitee reviewing and annotating an old case file (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8980) which caused me to go back and see what they’ve been doing lately and there are still some knock out stories there (I am partial to the one where the NYC MTA has been running its own, separate SCP alike just for stuff on the subway, which is a lot https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-8006) Anyway teens fucking around trying to make art on the internet reminded me of my wild obsession with RPGMaker2k in high school and how I nearly broke the engine several times trying it to do what I wanted (and also resulting in me having gay sexy for the first time so let’s give it up for the power of art and community)

I’m not an expert on SCP lore but my understanding is that it is from the ground up, the work of many different authors, none of whom had majority control of the project.

So I really enjoy finding something weird and different, and I loved Skibidi Toilet when I stumbled onto it. Hearing its become... a property, well. It kind of sucks. Studios and such have wanted, for a while, to do things like monetize fan fiction and the like. This feels like another step toward that. Another wall erected in an increasingly stupid garden. No shade for the artist, though. He's clearly in a situation he doesn't want to be in, and maybe the money will make his life better. I hope that when he's done with this, he's happier for it, and gets to make whatever he likes.
