Don't get eliminated

Comments

Podcasters try to realize their audience loves hearing about the random shit they are in to challenge (impossible)

Dr. Arroway

I've been OBSESSED with UFO 50! Also, I just got all of Sex Criminals in a digital comic bundle. Excited to read it after hearing all 3 of you recommend it.

Also, come on, Brian! Camera stuff isn't boring! Especially old weird stuff like what you were talking about today! I think it would be super fun if you, Devon, and November got together to talk about camera stuff, because you all have your own different focuses and reasons for doing photo nerd stuff. I, at least, would really like to hear the three of you talking.

It was kind of funny, kind of agonizing listening to this episode because I kept muttering to yourself, "Y'all need to watch Game Center CX" until the last bit when you started talking about UFO 50, when I had to keep myself from shouting (to the empty air) "YOU NEED TO WATCH GAME CENTER CX! (and also play Retro Game Challenge)". What if Takeshi's Castle only it's some middle-aged otaku who plays through classic Japanese home console games (sort of badly a lot of the time, if I'm being honest) and also goes to visit various arcades, games companies, and other focal points of Japanese gamer culture. There's hundreds of episodes of it, many of them available subtitled on YouTube (and pretty much the whole run has been fansubbed, if you know where to look), and it's super fun. Retro Game Challenge is a Nintendo DS game that's an anthology of games in a variety of styles recapitulating the development of Japanese gaming, so basically the same thing as UFO 50, but with a focus on Japan. There's a lil Dragon Warrior, a lil NInja Gaiden, a lil Metroidvania, etc, all with the guy from Game Center CX providing commentary and a UI based on the look and feel of the show (the game was just called Game Center CX in Japan, but I guess they figured they couldn't do that for the US release becase the show's never been licensed over here, as far as I know. Also there's a Game Center CX 2 that never got an official localization, but you can find a ROM patch that translates it sloshing around.)
