Anyhow without Dragonball and One Piece lower middle class Donki shopping 20 somethings would have no culture. RIP Toriyama.

Looking back on some of the serialized radio dramas I co-wrote in college, there was definitely some of the over-the-top style of recaps that probably came from there. Is Akira Tuesdayama actually responsible for the superhero movie 2010s?

Recently they did a commentary reaction series where they go through the whole thing, and it was really entertaining. seeing them develop and refine from (dated) jokes to actually telling their own version of the story

2024-07-05 16:57:04 +0000 UTCI feel like DBZ repeatedly encounters and fails to overcome a common problem with literary depictions of glorious combat: telling people how the fighting is going or even drawing it just doesn't convince audiences nearly as well as movement. So the anime has the advantage of actually allowing that movement. Not only is the anime hamstrung by the written story and its endless power-scaling as a shortcut to this dilemma but it also needs endless filler to avoid overtaking the manga, as well as suffering from ambitions that exceed their budget.

It's in my nature to abandon my family and seek out fights that will put everyone in danger." He never had that excuse before he met Vegeta. In Dragonball Super, Vegeta just hangs out and protects his family while Goku endangers trillions of lives starting an interdimensional fighting competition. Dying and getting wished back so many times and also wishing his friends back, has left Goku with no regard for life
