I didn't do Shakespeare in high school, but I DID do Shakespeare in 4th grade. Imagine, if you will, a bunch of 10 year olds performing The Taming of the Shrew, with no dialogue changes. I couldn't tell you if we were any good, but we did get the opportunity to perform at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in the Adams Theatre, a replica of the Globe Theatre which has since been torn down (may it rest in peace). So that was fun!

Reading the Wiki felt like watching the Last Duel again as 2 white men distort a real story of exploiting women to make it about themselves

Schools ask to make edits because they are bringing it to completion that has either a 60 or 45 minute time limit. Instead of just doing an excerpt, these schools think they have to abbreviate the whole show in order to meet that time limit. They try to do this with other shows like Equus, Amadeus, The Seagull (some of the more absurd choices to fit in 45 minutes)
