97 - Whit Fucking Dies (For Real This Time) (feat. The Socialist Shelf) [Whit’s Endless Summer 26]
Added 2023-07-26 06:00:05 +0000 UTC
Jacob Dallas-Main and Joss Olson (The Socialist Shelf) join the lads in Odyssey for adventures in Hollywood self-absorption and saying goodbye to the god-king of Odyssey himself: John Avery Whittaker. Topics include using art to exact petty revenges, the moral dubiousness of post-mortem performances, and the long, illustrious career of the original Whit: Hal Smith.

Commercial: “Big Bargain Bill’s Used Car Barn”
Also, speaking of semi-nude trucks, the modern-day remake of Bernard and Eugene's road trip should make the car a Cybertruck

I think the real moral of the Hollywood story is that if you're a neglectful parent then weird evangelicals might spirit your kids away like fey creatures

Alan Young being the voice of Scrooge made me realise just how similar Whit is to Scrooge, except in a world where everyone just thinks Scrooge is good and cool and has no flaws whatsoever

Very strange. Even the post itself would show the episode ended at 56:45 on the app.
Cleared app cache, and when I pressed play on the episode, it switched back to the full time.
Thanks!

“Good enough for a US president!” You mean the one that was assassinated at the Pan-American exposition in Buffalo? Nice.

You guys were talking about how the AiO writers not knowing any references outside the 1950s made me want to point out a reference I think you guys missed. Smith-Hammer Films is almost certainly a reference to the British horror production company Hammer Film Productions which was the big company churning out a lot of edgy, transgressive B movies… in the late 1950s lol. They wanted to reference something adjacent to Roger Corman or whatever but all they knew was the 1950s version of that

Wes craven was actually raised fundamentalist and one of the reasons it’s so fucked up is because he had never seen a horror movie so he thought this was just what all horror was

Oh, I completely agree with Brian. The Bishop's Wife is terrible. It's like "what if Miracle on 34th St was Catholic propaganda?"
