I come from a similar background as Josh and Brian (although maybe a bit less strict personal home life). An while I am no longer apart of the church and have no wish to be my parents and specifically my dad still is.
And his interpretation of God has always reminded me more of an HP Lovecraft entity then the more traditional understanding
And while listening to this episode I was reminded of that thought. Where God in the Evangelical interpretation almost more feels like Cthulhu with a nice veneer.
The more I go back into the stuff from my childhood the more I see similarities.
-A great and terrible entity who requires total devotion to the cause or you face oblivion.
- unknowable and incomprehensible logic that you, for your own sake should not think about too heavy lest you go mad.
- a death cult that requires constant expansion in a attempt to dominate the world
-and are also working to hasten the end of the World by summoning their lord to bring about Armageddon.
There's a cool story in here, I just wish it was only fiction *sigh*

It may be lost to time but at some point I owned a "Colorado School of Mimes" tshirt because there's like a 50/50 chance when you tell someone unfamiliar they think you say either Minds or Mimes lol

If AJ was so certain of why April was going up to the hotel room alone, I can't wait to hear how he reacts to That Scene in the Hawaii episode

Since I've recently had a late introduction to TNG, hearing Barclay be mistaken for Broccoli immediately made me think of Lieutenant Reginald Barclay's first episode, where he gets that as an unflattering nickname by the other senior staff. That one aired just over three years before AIO 293... Could it be they were just ripping off that gag? Like, it doesn't even make that much sense as a genuine mistake, the words don't sound *that* similar
