But Oprah has been giving away stuff for years and there's been shows like Exteam Makeover Home Edition. I think Mr. Beast's popularity is more of a lateral move than a sing of countiued decline

2023-04-21 05:20:36 +0000 UTCNo matter how you slice it, he's a sign of fundamental institutional failure; medical care that should be provided for all citizens by the state as a matter of course is being funded by some dude on Youtube. It's nice that he does these things, but he's not helping anyone out of any real altruistic spirit. He's just out for clicks. So when the tides shift and he finds a way to get more clicks, he'll do that. Sure, he's better than Andrew Tate, but that's not setting the bar real high. He still needs to be viewed with suspicion.

2023-03-31 20:30:40 +0000 UTCI've been thinking about Mr Beast since learning about him from this episode. Grading on a scale is he really that bad? He's not as bad as Oprah ... yet. When I was in middle school Jack Ass were the major influencers. Is that better? It's completely understandable and also heart warming that kids would idealize a saint who wants to lift up the struggling and bring people together. Hopefully they outgrow the demagogue but keep the solidarity (Have you heard about Andrew Tate and his influence on young people? That's WAY more depressing)

It's very recent, I think I first noticed it about a month ago in the then-latest video from Chubbyemu, who had added Spanish and Portuguese tracks. And looking up MrBeasts latest video, it seems he is also using this feature by now. Makes me wonder if his production company was a driving force behind implementing it, being the largest channel
