I apologize that art posts have been a bit scarce lately. There are many reasons for this, but to keep it simple, I'll just say that it's because, "quality takes time." Or something.
But let's take a moment to look back at a time when I drew much faster, albeit at the expense of quality and--more importantly--proper spelling. Here are some works from the year 2010 and before.
This collection of drawings depict The Drones--an antagonistic faction of mass-produced, galaxy-concurring robots. They came in a wide variety of models that spread terror in the hearts of innocent and ineffective background characters. But this just made it all the more impressive when the named characters effortlessly cut them down by the hundreds. (Or at least, it was impressive to twelve-year-old Toaster.)
I would continue drawing "drones" for several years, all the way into high school. They were part of a broader narrative that spanned dozens of characters and interconnecting storylines, several time-skips, and multiple dimensions. I knew in my heart that this was going to be the greatest multimedia franchise of all time. At the very least, it would have four AAA PS3 games and two spinoffs on the DS by 2017. But sadly, it only got one game to tell its story--and that game is Kingdom Hearts III.
I would love to draw a drone again someday, but I would be the only one in on the joke.
