Vote for August's Mini Pod Topic

Voting closes 9 am ET Monday, August 12

Comments

These are all great topics. Do them all!

Cassandra Moseley

Like most respondents, I'm most interested in the election disruption issue. But most of the other topics seem worthwhile, too.

Paul Reinstein

The people chanting “stop the steal” will try to steal the election through, among other tactics, frivolous election law litigation.

Ben

For the election security you may want to include Matthew D. Taylor on the Christian Nationalist “Coursge Tour” recruiting election workers.

KERRY ELLIS

Not for the mini pod but I see David Priess has a story out about the PDB on bin Laden in 2004. Will there be a podcast about his piece? I’d love for someone to get into the weeds on his investigation.

KERRY ELLIS

Rachel Maddow just did a show on hyper local election worker choices made with an eye to election deny-ers (deniers?) and DJT congratulating some of them at recent rallies. Dem focus on Federal solutions basically since Roosevelt has created many good things but offered free range to anti-Rooseveltian folks, Koch Brothers and their progeny. They proceeded to work in the weeds of our democratic framework to herd traditional republicans, single issuer voters and swaths of "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" Americans into fearful and angry victims.

Re: election security. New Georgia law and prospect for appeal? Also WaPo did a nice interview with Al Schmidt and Adrian Fontes, and you have your guy Bob Bower and he has/had his election official defense fund thingy so he might know something. It is difficult to translate the 70 with denialist social media to overwhelming threat in any key state -- the math is hard to understand from the outside. Ben-Ghiat, Warren, others saying most of us should focus on GOTV but it is disconcerting. Would like to hear about real efforts. Some sectys of state are doing AI fire drills to get people prepped.
