Lawfare Live: Discussing the SCOTUS Immunity Decision

On July 1, the Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. United States, the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, that former presidents of the United States enjoy "absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within [their] conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority," and "at least presumptive immunity from prosecution" for all official acts. The Court also held that presidential immunity does not extend to unofficial acts.

At 2pm ET today, Lawfare Editor-in-Chief Benjamin Wittes, Lawfare Senior Editors Quinta Jurecic and Roger Parloff, Lawfare Courts Correspondent and Legal Fellow Anna Bower, and Bryant Smith Chair in Law at the University of Texas Lee Kovarsky will discuss the decision, what it means for the D.C. case, and when we can expect pre-trial proceedings to begin again.

We will be using Zoom for the livestream. Register to attend the Zoom here.

If you can’t attend the live event, the recording will be available immediately afterward on Lawfare’s YouTube channel or later ad-free on Patreon and the Lawfare Podcast feed.
