If Trump is convicted in the Washington DC trial regarding January 6, may Judge Chutkan immediately remand him to custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons? The severity of the crimes would seem to require it. While his lawyers will file appeals— his freedom after conviction for a crime of violence, and who has already declared his intentions of further lawlessness, seems beyond the pale for any consideration of mercy.
