In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United States and its international allies are pursuing an unprecedented set of economic sanctions measures against Russia. But what do these measures entail? And how effective are they likely to be?

- Julia Friedlander, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and former director for the European Union, Southern Europe and Economic Affairs at the National Security Council from 2017 to 2019; and
- Rachel Ziemba, Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security.
