my hair: DELETED SCENES

Uh oh, I thought I'd have just a few clips to post after this hair video, but it ended up being 8 minutes long.

I've decided to upload all behind-the-scenes/deleted scenes videos to Vimeo so I can pop a password over to my patrons instead of forcing you all to download multiple gigs worth of videos!

I'll say that this video gave me flashbacks to this ancient livestream from the beginning of my video-making days. It's been a while since I've cut my own hair or had a roommate cut it, and it's invigorating. Nothing like putting your hair in the hands of an untrained barber to really put things in perspective.

I also feel like the thumbnail I made for this video might be my best work to date:

The worm face. The very distraught version of me chilling in the shower. The light overlay of me with a bowl cut just hanging out in the background, like a guardian angel. It's so nice to be able to make terrible thumbnail choices again.

P.S. I sent a picture of my hairโ€”front and backโ€”to my siblings immediately after filming this, and my brother responded with this image.

I have become coin slot dog.

Honestly this video alone was worth the subscription money for the whole month.

I got soooooo stressed when the scissors came out.

ashurredly

Your hair video was my favorite and the deleted scenes is worth the money alone ๐Ÿคฃ

Tayliss Forge

I feel so privileged to be a patron of yours.

Helen Gould

That was hilarious when you said that you had to realize that you are a size small instead of a medium. I literally had the same realization a couple months ago and now I joke about it when ever I go shopping for clothes. hahaha

Joseph Derbyshire

Karenโ€™s camerawork in these videos just makes them *chefs kiss* Also, I read the Vimeo password before watching the video but still didnโ€™t expect the mullet ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป superb job sir

Rachael Alexander

Thank you

Jack Shellen

It's in the description above the giant picture that says "my hair" and has the worm face.

David Ellison

What is the password to the video or how do I get it???

Jack Shellen

I liked Karen's help with the haircut, and the inclusion of her throughout the video, not just when the hair needed to be cut in the back :)

Veronika

This whole thing made my wife very upset

Chris Ressler

Video ruled; deleted scenes ruled; coin dog rules. In summary: very good.

zacH

Watching this while doing my own hair stuffs was honestly the best decision I have ever made in my life. Thank you Brian. We aren't worthy of this brilliance.

Christina Volkoff

Your partner is a good camera operator!

marbeltoast

'Wow, Brian hasn't cut his hair in a while. It's so. long.' Loljk let's go on an ADVENTURE. 10/10 looking good through all styles.

Shelley Gorak

i just impulsively cut my hair yesterday and my roommate had to fix it. i feel so seen by this video

Sam Brinton

I'm so glad to still be getting BDG content. I am also 26 and a creative idiot with a tendency to take things too far, so I feel like I'm watching my people (person?) succeed.

Harper MacDonald

Thanks Brian! Wonderful first video back on the indie scene!

Roberto Rubio

"My baby having kids." Gets out the curlers.

Stardust Orchard

This went off the rails immediately. It began off the rails. This is the kind of content i'm looking for.

Joshua Cubbin

My dear Korean mum forced a perm on me at the tender age of 10. I had a fringe and a bob and she permed it all. I looked like someone glued a pyramid made of pubes to my head. You know, just in case she thought I ever had a chance of making any friends at school.

Alice Amsel

The pompadour alone makes the patreon money well worth it.

Connor Nolan

oh wow this is extremely good to know. my secret plan to make a hair tutorial just to get actual hair advice is paying off

Brian David Gilbert

this is extremely wholesome

Potch

I've had to cut my hair three times now (cutting my waste-length hair off in June 2020 was mmmmm questionable), and it is genuinely shocking how much you can get away with with if you do that specific hairstyle. Now to go buy a hairdryer and styling jell because I just... forgot those were things that existed...

Knives

Amazing and unexpected in all the right ways. Can't wait to see where your solo career takes you. Keep it up!

Jacob Bearce

coming from a guy who has similar hair type/length (before the bowl cut) I will say I very much relate to how you spoke on how you have to DO something to your hair if you don't like it. I grew up hating how my hair never looked how I wanted it to without putting any effort into it. But I will say, having still not really invested a lot of time in managing my hair style, I think I've come to appreciate the way hair shapes the face naturally rather than the actual styling of the hair itself, you know? I have barely any idea what I'm talking about. Anyways, thanks for sharing!

Howdy

was literally just thinking about silicones!! for a good cheap silicone-free-but-has-sulfates shampoo, I like Garnier's Replenishing Shampoo with Olive Oil & Lead Extracts. if you wash twice a month (or once a week if need be), you can get all the silicone and hair styling product residue out without overly damaging your hair. sulfates aren't all bad!

Prius

so much appreciation for Karen everywhere!!!

Prius

Brian, I need you to know that at about 01:16 on the Vimeo outtakes vid, you look like a dead ringer for Andre Agassi circa 1987, and that's the best thing anyone can be at any given time ever.

Prius

Dude these were my first thoughts exactly. Brian is such a wavy! I know that the point of this video is that the material is an illusion and Ursula could wreck us at ANY time, but if you ever wanna go balls to the wall, Brian, check out r/curlyhair on reddit. It is a wild ride, and one of the most well-kempt cults I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of.

Laura W

"I have become coin slot dog" destroyer of worlds.

Jeeves

While I agree that this should not be anyone's go-to video regarding haircuts, all your advice about products and hairdryers is spot on! A lot of cis straight guys don't do anything with their hair and then just keep buzzing or whatever because at least it doesn't look ~~bad that way, but all you need is a BIT of time and the right product and you can get great results! I'd also like to add directly AT Brian -- you should check your hair products for silicones as well! especially if your shampoo doesn't have sulfates. Because if your conditioner has silicones but your shampoo doesn't have sulfates then the shampoo won't be able to wash off the silicones and they will stick to your hair! So you should at least like twice a month wash it with a sulfate shampoo to get rid of silicone residue :D (curly girls where u at!!!)

Giu Alonso

absolutely primo content. this is exactly what im happy to pay for. also please condition your hair more it makes it less oily over time and more healthy. 10/10

Miranda Grace

Brian's hair's naturally wavyness really was making that mullet WORK for him not gonna lie . I've recently cut both my mom's and brother's hair so i really sympathize with Karen's emotional journey here.

Michelle

Excuse me? I came here for jokes and instead I get highly professional hairstyle advice? I would like a refund!

Viniter

i felt so spoiled with all those deleted scenes but also can i say??? i actually kinda learned some stuff (because i have the same hair as the Final Look) so Thanks Brian

ali

i'm real glad that train didn't stop at bowl-cut station (aka Mandark Memorial Station) for too long

Scezumin

weeping, absolutely weeping at the bowl cut reveal

Patrick Crutchley

Thanks for the video Brian. It really teaches all of us the most important lesson in life: embrace your cowlick

Lucas P.

Bowl cut Brian looks exactly like every student at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Emma Allain

Yes! So much appreciation for Karen's work here too!

DottyMatrix

Nova Wolfebroek

I know this video is about Brian's hair but can I just say that Karen's camera work and comedic timing is just *chef's kiss*

Elizabeth Acosta

Brian with bowl cut made me laugh so hard I fell out of bed

Kane Dingo

We must all strive to become coin slot dog.

Nathan Hayes

SunnyDispositi0n

Also running into privacy issues with the YouTube link above

Oakley Barton-Spears

Also having trouble with the privacy of video link thing. May just have to have it as unlisted? Or make it another Vimeo upload with password?

Krys Ren

Youtube link comes back as private. Maybe you need to have it private but available with link?
