Here are some of my notes regarding my thought process for this piece.
- Getting the base structure which is by far my most messy icky bit which I rarely bother to record or show because it's for lack of a better term complete mess on a page whilst I try to make sense of it, The blue lines or underlines are the cleaned up ish-uber rough.
- Cleaning up with a cleaner sketch and getting the base shapes and lines down using a different brush from my normal pipeline as I have been experimenting with how I want to do more stylized sketches. And experimenting with brushes whilst I do it. This one is sort of a hybrid between a pencil/graphite look with some smoothness to it.
-On a different layer I will add now a form of Pseudo shading, I call it this because I am using the natural grey of the canvas as a form of Midtone and putting in darker shadows to indicate the forms of the face and various structures on Tarby.
- Testing out some of my scale brushes I wanted to add a small amount of flare to the little guy and give him some scales for a quick lil flare.
- Adding in some highlights to bring out those forms and come full circle with the Pseudo shading, I am quite pleased with the overall result.
