Update Post: January 2nd (First Update Post of the 2021!)

Hey Patrons, Happy New Year!! 2020 is now a thing of the past, and it's time to turn our focus to a brand new year of GaMetal.

Did you notice anything different about the God Shattering Star video?

One of the things I wanted to do this year was improve the quality of the videos a bit, so I picked up a motorized camera slider that I've had my eye on for a while, so we have some moving camera shots now! I had to drop the green screen board and overlay the footage normally instead, but I think it turned out looking pretty good! The green screen board will not be missed on my end, this makes editing in the footage a lot easier.

I'll be doing some more experimenting till I find the exact formula of shot styles I feel look the best, but I think this was a great start!

I know a lot of you are curious about the 2021 Premiere. I dropped a pretty good hint at the end of the GSS video, but it was still ambiguous enough to keep everyone guessing what specific song it'd be. Well you're an awesome GaMetal Patron, so you won't have to guess any longer:

Also, I'm trying out a different thumbnail style this year. :D

The 2021 Premiere will be Birth of a God from Final Fantasy VII! I felt this would be an awesome choice to both celebrate Sephiroth's inclusion in Smash Ultimate, and also, in typical GaMetal fashion, to cover a kickass song that always gets overshadowed by others, like One-Winged Angel and J-E-N-O-V-A.

Now that God Shattering Star is complete, the top priority (alongside our usual monthly songs) is completing Side-Quests Volume 3. GSS and GBA Medley took up a majority of my time last month, but now with all of the massive songs out of the way and a very clean looking to-do list, I'll be able to dedicate a huge chunk of time to finally finishing up the album! My goal is to have it finished and out for you all by the end of the month, so we can get some videos ready to go and up a few weeks after completion.

The to-do list is now:

• 2: Brutish Indigo / Brutish Indigo Rages (Monster Hunter World: Iceborne)
• TBA: Lost in Thoughts All Alone (Fire Emblem Fates)
• Soon!: Side-Quests Volume 3 (Song list at bottom of PRL)

We of course still have 2 others to add to the list this month: the monthly handpick and the song chosen during the next Patreon Stream coming on our usual date and time of January 5th, starting around 3:00 PM US Central Time. For those request list tier Patrons that need to update or add their request lists, you still have some time before then and can do so at the current request list post.

There's one more thing coming this month, and that's the public Non-Live Q&A Video I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I got super tied up in finishing God Shattering Star, so I didn't have much time to get it out before the end of the year as originally intended, but I'll be working on it this week and should have it up before the weekend. I'm keeping the submission form up till Monday, so if you wanted to submit a question for me to address and haven't yet, you can do so at the Q&A form here.
