I can’t help but yap about this episode and how good it is so I’m putting my thoughts here spoiler-free 😁 First, the Inarizaki player that was talking to their coach at the beginning after Atsumu’s “because i’m a setter” line was the kid who previously did a “safe” serve earlier in the game and got boo’d by the Inarizaki crowd. I love this moment because we finally realize the intent behind the team’s motto through that character’s eyes! Also I think the coach saying “atta boy” after he scores with his serve is really sweet 🥺 ALSO HINATA’S RECEIVE! I’m so happy you appreciated this moment of Hinata’s growth. I’ve seen people say they skip the ball boy arc because it was too uncomfortable or cringey for them to sit through, but I don’t think anyone who hasn’t see that arc can fully appreciate this moment! Also it makes me think back to some season 1 moments - episode 2 where Kageyama tells Hinata not to waste another 3 years and Hinata replies with “don’t make it sound like everything i’ve done until now has been a waste” as well as Noya’s introduction when he’s talking about being a libero and says “when the crowd is going crazy, even more than at an amazing spike, is when there’s a super receive.” I think those quotes really encapsulate this moment and I love the choice of perspective as the crowd cheers for Hinata 🥹 And how competitive Kageyama pretends he didn’t see anything 😁 also no matter how many times I’ve seen this episode IM WITH YOU WITH HOW MUCH THE NET DROP SCENE MAKES MY STOMACH HURT 😭 You can’t help but feel so demotivated at the loss of that point. But Hinata’s cheerful “watch me get the next one” and finally OSAMU’S HUNGER SPEECH really tie this episode together and build hype for the next one 😈 Okay yap sesh over thank you for the reaction PD 😁😁😁
