Oh god. I never went past ep 2 of Frieren or maybe 3, bc I found it so introspective and sad. Ep 1 makes me cry. So I gave up on it lol

2025-12-02 09:45:29 +0000 UTCI think it's kind of like the Full Metal Alchemist or Attack on Titan thing. "Medieval fantasy" is very European coded so they might have gone in that direction for that reason to make it feel more "authentic".

When they got back he was around 30~, so after 50 years he must be 80 and it's normal for him to be bald. Heiter is similar and i believe he must live nearly his 100s.

2025-10-24 10:10:25 +0000 UTCI'm watching this for the first time and had never heard of it before. I was really confused when I first read the name here, because it's a German word. I was like, “Huh? Is there a similar word in Japanese or something?” But then, when they said the names at the beginning Himmel, Eisen, Heiter, and Frieren. I realized they’re all German words! So I got even more confused and I’m still wondering why they chose German words for the characters’ names. I’d really love to know more about the background or the connection behind that.

We'll see how that goes haha. 10 seconds into the intro and I guessed it's YOASOBI; so recognizable! Ooh, and Madhouse. Another familiar name - they're the studio in charge of Hunter × Hunter, amongst other things. Definitely a charming show. I like the art style, music and humour. Also happy to see a(nother) female main protagonist in Anime Club!

I just want to point out how gentle and loving Himmel's voice is 😭 and the fact it's the same voice actor as Nishinoya lol. It's seldom he gets to use his non explosive voice 🤭 PS: Frieren's voice actress also voices Anya 😚

2025-10-11 16:35:26 +0000 UTCVery excited for you to watch this show! This anime has so much charm and everything from the art, to the music, to the direction is so well thought out. You can tell that the people who worked on this put a lot of care into it. Just to let you know, the first 4 eps of Frieren were actually released together and they're meant to function as a prologue of sorts. It's totally cool to watch them separately though and it doesn't change the overall watching experience. I'd also like to comment on why I think Himmel aged so poorly. Himmel and Heiter are actually very close in age but I think that Heiter was able to age more elegantly because he's a holy priest. Therefore, he has the means to heal and take care of himself a lot better compared to an average person without abilities, like Himmel. Very excited for you to continue!

It's definitely a show that starts really slow, but god the story, characters, atmosphere, the music.... just everything about it is so incredible. It really is a journey
