So i was driving to town today, when i stopped in a car park realized that the plastic thing is hanging under my van, also noticed two three leaks, when i touched all fluids they all appeared the same with no smell and runny just like a water. Then i opened the bonnet and looked where the leak is coming from, all seemed ok until i discovered this third pipe coming from the engine coolant container hanging down loose, apparently it's the pipe which releases pressure..

PS I really haven't crashed my van into anything, the only thing i could remember there was some gravel poured on the country roads and it wasn't evened out and I probably drove into one of those bumps hence the tiered of plastic thing but i m 99% sure on this impact I couldn't damage anything else under the van that on level, all looks fine.. it's just this pipe and the leakage which i assume can cone from the coolant container but not from the actual pipe though.. The engine temperature on the dash board looks fine when i m driving - just a millimetre above the middle bar and no warning lights on dashboard or any strange noises coming from the engine ..

Could that be that this pipe has been always hanging down loose with no attachment on the other end? Could that be a leak from an air conditioner? Or could that be that the coolant container is having too much pressure inside that it releases it out in a for of liquid via god knows where? Could that be that it's all due to crazy mad temperatures we have here for more than a week already - over 30'C ??? What should I look out for else? Can I drive? Do I need to take it to the service immediately or as soon as i next can?

All your comments and messages regarding this issue will be very appreciated!

Thanks in advance my Lovelies!

Thanks Darcy, i will keep an eye on this but next week i had intended to take the van into a garage to change all the filters and fluids, see if it's ok to wait until that 🥰

Thanks so much Carl, yes got an email from one other patron saying similar thing and actually this could all be true, as after i wrote this post i was driving for another 20km with AC turned off and when i stopped, was paying close attention to areas where these leaks happened- nothing was leaking, all stayed dry. So it should be AC due to hot weather I suppose but as N commented i still need to keep an eye on that loose pipe to make sure nothing leaks out from there. 🥰

Great thanks so much, i will keep a close eye on it! 🥰

Agreed, turn the ac off see if leaks stop, but if it's dripping out of that hose unfortunately it means bigger issues

It looks as if it's designed to relieve pressure through the hose that's hanging down to leak. If you're running the AC, it will produce condensation and that's what you're noticing as water on the ground. The temperature gauge is within operating temperatures and should be fine. If it was my van, I would cut that plastic piece where it's hanging and I wouldn't worry about it. Safe travels Leila. 🙋‍♂️
