It’s a SURVIVAL show, if you’re forced to sing when you want to become a singer then you’re not cut out for this—but also it’s a survival show and there is merit to failing from your own decisions instead of failing from what someone else told you to do… the logic fair side and the Korean producer side of me are at war internally on this one

2025-09-15 18:24:11 +0000 UTCjust wanted to mention because I haven't seen it in any other comments so far - apparently stepping out of formation when unsure of the choreography is how some jyp groups are trained (basically so that they are no in the way of the others and no accidents happen; I think you can see it happen in some got7 content? not sure tho), which I agree is... unusual and definitely seems unprofessional to anyone who doesn't train that way but it explains why xinlong stepped out

2025-09-15 17:49:57 +0000 UTCThe makeup team really ,, I get it you’ve got a 80 people to do up but the absolute wrong shade on the tanner contestants like He Xin Long IS A CRIME, they look so washed out and it’s so cakey, it’s one thing to try to tone up a bit I get the beauty standard and there are bright stage lights BUT THEY LOOK GRAY, it’s always a pet peeve bc it makes them look stiff and it’s so noticeable that it’s distracting, we have had tan idols for a long time now so you can’t blame it on it being something new and I know they have better access to shades

And they don’t focus well on him during any of the performances either, he’s doing really well it’s just difficult because WE DONT SEE HIM he’s one that doesn’t get a storyline so at least I’d like to see him during the performance but they always cut towards other people quickly when it’s his part a lot of the time, I do think it’s nice to see when people acknowledge him online or other reactors since he always does solid job

2025-09-15 17:05:14 +0000 UTCI completely understand Xin Long not wanting to do plot twist, I think the issue with boy story is that a group concept can’t be revolved around their young age, I think they’ve been wanting to grow up for a long time, it’s not that cute concept is bad, but I understand his personal struggle with matching the vibe given his own history, also I applaud anyone who does the cute concept while on a survival show like this I feel like it’s always harder, imagine being a contestant and having to detach from all stress and be so incredibly bright happy youthful smiling even if you’re struggling mentally, you have to be so emotionally expressive and put aside any trauma briefly for the performance and how to touch roots back with innocence when you’ve been in the industry for so long or training for many years, getting that light back in your eyes is not easy to do

2025-09-15 16:59:26 +0000 UTCunfortunately, kim sihwan (along with geonwoo and leo, actually) has been facing bullying and sexual harassment accusations. for geonwoo, it seems like it's a bit about bullying but more about embezzlement of funds/being given the princess treatment by the company (written apology is out there). leo's controversy was about some violent lyrics that he wrote about women (written apology is out there). actually, as i'm looking it up to confirm, apparently peng jinyu was posting some hateful things towards idols too. all of the people i've mentioned are very talented and stood out to me in the show. i was voting for sihwan before i knew! given leo and geonwoo's ranks, we know the final group will have to carry the burden of some controversy right out the gate, which sucks for the other members. no matter the truth of those rumors and situations, and no matter the growth since those events, your image just *is* tainted.

2025-09-15 16:36:23 +0000 UTCTotally on Minjae’s side on this, they tried to frame it like he was on a power trip but then we literally saw that no one volunteered? And then they would’ve criticized him again if he forcefully switched positions away from Hu Han Wen, I do think it should’ve gone to someone else but then you’re making someone who doesn’t want to be main vocal sing and they would’ve gotten mad at Minjae again, I don’t think there was a way he could really win, it sucks when you don’t have have people show initiative or confidence in this situation; definitely the right team won, there’s a big skill gap, I would have to look side by side again but I do understand why people if you’re voting individually for a position liked Chen Kai Wen better; side note: they go back to this clapping practice scene a lot with Hu Han Wen in the show but is it just me or is that pretty normal? Like to stay on beat for people who are off rhythm the way Minjae did it seemed like necessary, I just didn’t understand why they kept clipping that part that was just normal practice
