This is a very interesting perspective to get as I only watched the survival show, I had no idea about the process leading up to the competition. Megan was my number 1 but I also always have to cheer on the Australians in these shows as an Aussie lol

2025-08-13 17:33:21 +0000 UTCI think it’s people like Naisha, when honed, can become a wildcard ace like the Yeonjuns of the world.

2025-08-13 17:30:32 +0000 UTCThe real question is—who is the spiritual and who is the scientific one between Hannah Montana and Miley

2025-08-13 17:29:04 +0000 UTCI am ahead but I’ve been re reading your sentence and I’m confused. What?

2025-08-13 17:27:41 +0000 UTCManon has this “European” aura that only comes from years of mental work, hard work and self-confidence. A lot of Europeans have this Manon aura once they “find themselves” That’s kind of what drew me in to Manon. She really just reminded me of the people I surround myself with. She felt like home to me when she appeared

2025-08-13 01:11:45 +0000 UTCI totally agree with the science & spirituality statement! This might be a reason, why I have never managed to finish the MBTI test, because in this I am both 100% (well… technically 50:50, but I can place my mind into thinking as a scientist and then switching into a spiritual person as if I was a double agent between these two worlds. Basically like Hannah Montana and Miley 😙😙).

2025-08-12 23:35:22 +0000 UTCIliya being called a TikToker is a spot on description! Before going into this documentary, I had this feeling about more of the contestants, but I did not want to be mean. So I am glad they say it out loud like this! Then… I definitely get what they mean with their feedback to Naisha, but I like to have this kind of members in a group. It may get tricky, but at the same time it brings something special to the table and that can move the group forward a lot and make them stand out. I also wonder why Emily will not make it (based on what I assume/remember, she did not get eliminated early on like this). In her case I can see they will make some kind of explanation/reasoning. Like… out of my head first idea comes to my mind that she can be replaced by some of the other members, who are in the group even though they are not neck to neck with her dancing-wise, but they have something else to provide for the whole team. Like for example Sophia’s personality and leadership. Whereas with Naisha I do think that it is kind of dumb to eliminate someone, who is into rapping from her own will, since none of the girls there seems to be into rapping. And sure… Katseye does not seem like a group with rap lines needed for their songs, but at the same time it is not like Naisha would be useful only for that. So it would have been nice to have a wildcard like her

2025-08-12 21:43:47 +0000 UTCPeople don’t really talk positively about this online, but I really like HYBE’s T&D team. They work with their trainees with so much care. I’ve probably watched every single survival show, documentary, etc. out there for idols, and let me tell you: T&D can be hell in some companies. That’s why I appreciate HYBE’s effort here. They pre-trained Manon just like they did with Kazuha. Or how they sent Yeonjun and Taehyun to America to train. Or Jungkook. They see potential and work to elevate it, putting in so much time and money for the outcome. I can’t imagine Lesserafim without Kazuha or Katseye without Manon. I’m grateful. They also care about the mental health, physical health, growth, comfort and overall happiness of their trainees. At least it seems that way from an outside perspective. We'll see these aspects in the upcoming episodes more and more.

2025-08-12 20:16:51 +0000 UTCWe’ll see some parts of the performances in the later episodes. But yeah, you can totally watch the performances either after the documentary or alongside it. You can even pause during the mission segments, go watch the performances, and then come back. :D

2025-08-12 20:09:28 +0000 UTCHmm… this documentary like makes me invested in it all and mainly because of Manon. I will be fully honest here, she caught my attention mainly because of her visual part. Because… hmm… I am not sure if I have “my type”, but tan skin is the thing that catches my interest if I take a look at a random group of people and I do not know anything else about them. Therefore Lara obviously made me interested too, but I am not sure if it was because of the hairstyle or attitude but Manon simply stand out more to me. But I have to admit I am aware of the fact that she does not give the vibes of the most skilled member there. I mean… when I watched their Debut, I figured I cannot focus on the usual I focus on with other groups like: “Hmm! So this member is the main dancer here and this one might be the main vocalist, because of this section they got and yeah… here comes their rap line!” So their energy and attitude was the thing I paid attention to the most. But then as their career continued, I started to notice their skills too and I started to compare them here and there. And although I don’t pay attention to the visual/look aspect as others may do, because the skill factor matters more to me, I have to say I (sort of) agree with the statement SM made a while ago that talent/skill can be trained. I would say it is important to keep in mind that the member with born talent in them will also train and get better, so you “never” managed to train someone without the natural talent to the same level. But there is definitely a way to make them equal to each other. And so Manon will be the perfect example for that. To see how this idea of training the talent into someone is being done. Because it is true that you can be super skilled, but for an idol the star power is equally needed and if you don’t have that, it will not work out in the long run.

2025-08-12 19:03:18 +0000 UTC23:08 - LoL, I had the same reaction, I froze a bit and thought: “That is truly a statement to make about yourself” 😅

2025-08-12 18:47:01 +0000 UTCI have a question for those, who have seen the “survival show”… Since this documentary takes us to the times before it started with the line up they were looking for, would it make sense to watch all the YouTube videos AFTER this? As if this was the prequel to the “survival show”. Well… I assume just the early episodes are like this. So it is more like Better Call Saul, which is both prequel + along the story and then sequel. So I guess the best way to watch it all would be watching the performances along the documentary episodes. Like starting with the documentary to see the prequel part and then watching the performances and other videos along with the upcoming episodes until it finishes.

2025-08-12 18:36:35 +0000 UTCManon and her sister were speaking swiss german (specifically zürich german)

2025-08-12 15:39:08 +0000 UTCCommon mishap - Swedish is spoken in Sweden by Swedes, the Swiss speak Swiss German (+French, Italian and Romansh are also considered national languages) in Switzerland. It seems to be quite different from the German spoken in Germany haha

2025-08-12 14:26:26 +0000 UTCi knew you'd love pop star academy! you really get so much more insight into the behind the scenes training, and particularly the thought processes behind every step of developing the group in a way i don't think we've ever been able to see before. i think the closest anything has come is maybe iland 2

2025-08-12 13:59:16 +0000 UTCI think someone already mentioned this before but right about ep. 5 or 6 they'll start showing some behind the scenes on the survival show aspect and only a few bits of the performance so hopefully you'd check out the full performance (it's on youtube). Also it's so refreshing to hear the trainees thoughts and to see most of them having great mindset despite how hard the process is.
