Hunter x Hunter EP 116 + 117

gon saying "you have it easy" to killua really broke me man. especially knowing what comes next. I do love the parallel in their journeys tho. I mean, Gon's dark hair and killua's white hair always reminded me of the concept of Ying and Yang, and I think it really shows a lot in this arc. I mean, while Gon seems to be the kinder/better person of the two, there's an inner darkness to him the same way Killua seems like a darker character and has a very kind inner core. And the whole anime has been showing their journeys delving deeper into this dynamic. (sorry if this isn't making too much sense haha, english is still a bit hard)

lol, Cheetu was One Punch Man'd by appa Zoldyck..., so nice to see the Zoldyck gang again after their fight with Kuroro, also I wish they'd stay more and join more fights, but... for what reason, they don't have any motive to be there, sadly Also Cheetu's voice does not remind me of anyone specifically, but they sound like any hype haikyuu character that is friends with Hinata, like maybe Kogane or Lev maybe? just that careless vibe when speaking

Otto

Now when watching Haikyuu's Tsukishima I'm gonna hear the King

Otto

i agree people who love neferpitou are absolute freaks and are ops i will never ever love that creature no matter how long i've been watching this

I thought they did include it in a flashback when Kite hit him again because he didn't avoid the small chimera ants on their first meeting

I have to agree with you on the Gon take. But I have to point out one factor because of which Killua and his grandpa feel bad. Komugi is without a doubt a human and not a chimera ant and so they could figure she was there for some unknown reason but most likely not to fight for the King as his guards and so she is not just most likely but certainly involved in all of this unintentionally. And then she is/looks like a young girl. On the other hand you can argue they could kill Pitou and rush to the hospital with Komugi, but that is hard to say if it is possible to make it happen and make it happen on time. But the main thing, which confuses me… what does Gon think has happened to Kite? I think Killua figured and he just lied to Gon to force him not to attack, so Komugi can heal. But Gon is either dumb like retarded level dumb or he is super blind and does not want to accept the truth so he lies to himself so much that he actually believes his lies are the reality and that is that Kite is just somehow weirdly “manipulated”. Which would make sense… I pointed this out a while ago that in the anime they really early on skipped a key moment in manga and that was Gon’s meeting with Kite at the island of his before the whole journey. If I remember correct Kite even saved him from a giant bear or something. So the relation to Kite in the manga is not just: “This dude knows my dad and lost his arm because of me”, but in the manga Gon built a strong connection to him even prior to this arc. So that is why he is getting so mad max level mad here …. Me doing a double check regarding the meeting Kite thing: Aha! Here is a YouTube Short explaining it all: https://youtube.com/shorts/l3MkM2Qw60M?si=1aAiqXnZDYqJPzhL Kite is also a reason why Gon decided to become a hunter plus he considers Kite as someone, who is the closest thing to his father he has ever had. Damn… they should have kept this in the anime! That is really an important thing!

Yeah the pacing gets super annoying, they will continue to be like this until the fighting is over, mere seconds and minutes at a time unfortunately—I had to binge on the episodes the first time to get anywhere in the plot

I can see Killua's point actually. Through this entire series, Gon, has been the paragon of righteousness, doing the right thing and fighting for justice. He sticks to his morals even when it is disadvantageous for him. Killua, on the other hand, is the opposite of this. He is a morally grey person, an assassin who as shown, shows less care for human lives than Gon. Komugi, on the 1st glance, is an injured young girl, and becaus they're hunters, they'd know that she is just a normal person. By his usual standard, knowing that she is injured by their attacks would have caused him to pause and at the very least, hesitate but still wary and by his honor, waited for the treatment to finish. But because of what happened to Kite and his powerless to do anything, he is consumed by this overpowering rage that he ignore everything else. Killua has been influence by Gon's values and he know who Gon is in his heart. I can tell that Killua is rattled by Gon's wrong state of mind and he is worried that in the future, Gon may regret the decision that he makes in this state. That's why, even when being rebuked and told off, he kept it in, and try his best to persuade him. This is really an interesting scene and it's interesting to see another perspective to this. Thank you for the reaction!

I think that Killua’s actions only make sense because he knows if Gon was not related so closely to this, he would never take an innocent life bc that’s who Gon is—Killua has made the deductions that this is the third party and calculated that she’s just innocent, Gon hasn’t given any thought to the King injuring himself or what that means, I think Killua doesn’t care about those specific morals but he has been affected by Gon to know what is “good” and knows Gon enough to know that after this, if Gon realizes he was even semi-responsible, Gon would never forgive himself and fall into despair. We know Kite is pretty much gone, BUT Gon and Killua have been hanging on (and they know it’s hopeful at best) that they can save Kite or at least get his body, if he kills Neferpitou rn then they have no options, if it’s a long shot to see if she can reverse anything—Gon agreed and went into the fight thinking the objective is to save Kite, Killua is holding him to his words and standards as a good friend would; but yeah I completely understand Gon’s behavior, Neferpitou IS AN OP FOR LIFE, but Killua is saving Gon from himself, and dw it gets darker :)

Liv

Yup. Time is a bit warped in the Chimera Ant arc. The full length of this fight is just a tiny bit over 1 hour. We know this because of Gon and Pitou’s agreement about the healing time. The whole staircase shenanigan took only 10 seconds :D The King and Netero are riding that dragon only for a few minutes. Gon does not deserve a friend like Killua. I said what I said, and I stand by it. This arc and the one that follows showcase that well. "You have it easy" like??? Killua doesnt have to be in this craziness and risking his own life, Gon. Smh. Killua is a very brilliant boy, so he could piece everything together: Gramps made a remark, Pitou is healing someone, the King went willingly with Netero… these are all bizarre things. Komugi is a civilian—obviously not a fighter or an ant—and they can see she isn’t dangerous. As hunters, they should protect a civilian whether or not that person is important to the King. I’d also say they should have done more research about people coming and going from the palace. They would have realized Komugi’s situation sooner, but they didn’t. Killua was right, they should have investigated why the King injured himself. That was such an important point. Why do they always underestimate Killua's intellect? :(
