screaming crying throwing up 😖 letting this marinate for a bit and binging the eps is GLORIOUS. never did i think that i would be in tears watching a volleyball match but HERE WE ARE

i love this anime because the characters are just so well-rounded and flawed and grippingly real. I think another aspect as to why Shiratorizawa in this particular space (as i love them and their personalities off the court but they're just so funnily annoying when im on the edge of my seat at match point and they're out here in a flashback) is also bc it doesn't feel like they have anything to lose. Should they not win, that's it. They're still attending a prestigious private academy, still going to have access to other spaces for them to play volleyball at, they've been to nationals before. There's nothing else that drives them other than pride - the need to make people understand that they are strong regardless of past hurrs, their team is strong, and in the case of their coach that they have found the strength they lacked before by putting together an unbeatable team. Which, while admirable normally, cannot be appreciated when they are facing Karasuno - mismatched oddball team from a public high school who have fought tooth and nail to stand in their court and shed the weight of former defeat from themselves. Wonderful, masterful storytelling in my opinion to pit these drastically opposite teams against one another.

Shiratorizawa i think i liked but always outside of them playing karasuno lol, they feel like full rounded characters but they’re not particularly likable or relatable, bc they’re not supposed to, to your point! They don’t feel FUN to play against, it’s this serious, absolute, superhuman, vibe they give off that you wouldn’t cry if they lost vs seijoh, oikawa can be an asshole but charming and we love him! It’s also they stand as this pure antithesis on a philosophical level, that’s like old school vs new school and there’s something not fun, but also just annoying at times for a one dimensional team, like wanting to stick it to them for being stuck in their ways or not vulnerable in showing how desperate they can be, there’s something frustrating to having someone only hunger to crush those below them rather+be satisfied staying in their place, than constantly rising to new challenges and constantly evolving, continuing to learn; also Ushijima looks like a full grown adult ☠️ like I love that he is no nonsense, I find it silly in interactions with Tendou but your vibe is like 30 YEAR OLD MAN and it’s scary!! Hinata IS BARELY 16 PLEASE and looks it so it’s quite jarring; but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading the manga, it just feels just as fresh and fast paced but their shading goes OFF on this match in particular IT FEELS SO INTENSE

Don’t let me catch you in my neighborhood not wearing a Karasuno jersey 😂

It’s an incredible final line to cement his legacy FOR sure

PD has been the “neutral” sport fan the whole time, but this match is making him change into the die hard fan, who is willing to go against the fans of the other team 😅😅

Shiratorizawa is such an interesting team because it’s their arrogance that makes them feel like low-key assholes and villains. But at the same time, they’re not trying to be arrogant on purpose and I think that’s what keeps them grounded as characters in this world. To them, it’s just a matter of fact that, through sheer height and power, they are the stronger team. Up till this point, they genuinely have no reason to believe that their raw power won’t carry them to nationals again. If I was a tank of a teenage boy on a team with other tanks of teenage boys that have yet to experience a proper loss, I think I’d be a little arrogant too lol

It's honestly crazy, Haikyuu is in my opinion the best anime ever. None other ever makes me feel quite like it does.

I love how the first-timers got at least one point. While third-years will be gone next year, they're introducing second-years. Ennoshita, Kinoshita, Narita mostly in the background and we see only Nishinoya and Tanaka as second years. This match is Tsukki's growth story. I'm excited for the next episodes :3

Haruka

Ukai's shout at the end was the final voice line by his voice actor, who passed away during the recording of this season :( What an incredible line though and an incredible actor to be remembered
