I have never been as emotional for any album as I have been listening to The First Fruit. This was such a bare-it-all experience — *I* felt vulnerable listening to it. Mark’s artistry really shines; and I thank him for his honesty and generosity in sharing his life, his experiences, his faith to us through this album. He has a mini series of videos documenting the process of this album called REcording MARK over at NCT’s channel. I recommend watching it, even at your own time, because he shares his process for this album — from naming it, to the song selection, to the arrangements, to recording. It’s so interesting, fascinating, especially after listening to the entire album.

2025-04-12 16:21:09 +0000 UTCFor Mom's Interlude, Mark said "내 앨범에 일단 어쨌든 신앙적인걸 담고 싶다는 걸 처음 들었을때 엄마는 어땠어?" > "Mom, how did you feel when I first told you I wanted to include pieces of my (Christian) faith in my album?" This album definitely has a lot of Christian color in his lyrics and overall theme because his faith takes up such a large part of his life and the album is essentially a musical timeline of his life

I'm so amazed seriously. To experience all this was such a blessing 🥹 Also, to add, the Mom's interlude piano background was actually played by Mark's mom 🫶

I'm not sure what Mark's actual reference points were but it makes me think of albums like Kanye's my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, Kendrick's good kid mad city and frank oceans blonde (this one is probably on point he's a huge frank ocean fan). Fun fact is that he had a whole other album prepared (with an album title and everything) and he decided to scrap it because he felt something was off with it!...haha top tier levels of perfectionism and artistry

Fun fact that fascinated me is that the piano background melody in Mom's Interlude is actually played by Mark's mom.

Welcome to the club! ㅋㅋㅋㅋ In the Apple Music video, I mentioned under the teaser reaction, he mentions the meaning of the name of this album is meant that him/his journey is the tree of life and this album is the first apple that has fallen of the tree/of him. 🤯🤯🙀🙀 I am not sure if I have anything to say. This is the album I hoped for and I am fully satisfied. Mark has always been “the bro idol” for me. We are the same age and I have always felt like he is the type of person with who I would just chill out and talk about life. NCT is the group I decided to dedicate my life for, when they were announced with the whole NCT idea and plan, so him being the crucial member there was like destiny, so I could follow his journey since literally day one. And believe me that it has been a long-ass ride!!
