demjointz did the song so she's missing her joints? lol jk idk. to me it's kinda just random/cgi/greenscreen show off, but i guess you could say it's her being otherworldly, futuristic, or that she's a doll, since her movements are disjointed and you see each part, and separated like victorian dolls are. not sure if its anything else though!

exactly so it's more about being a great performer or not, instead of a western vs kpop thing.. also to set the record straight ari has some incredible videos like god is a woman

this is my personal opinion, but it's defintiely a kpop vs western video thing. beyonce and lady gaga have stunning mv's because they're performers, like all kpop idols are. however, if you watch mv's from major western pop girlies (for ex. the likes of taylor swift, ariana grande, olivia rodrigo, tyla, billie eilish, etc) they're all quite simplistic...and boring. when there are exceptions to this rule, it's usually because of some factor vital to the artist's indentity. for example, sabrina carpenter's team is really creative and she's naturally funny so a lot of her mv's are quite humorous! chappell roan is very theatric and a theater kid at heart, so her mv's are lots of fun too and incorporate her personality. the best example i could give you, would be the music director: christian breslauer. he has worked for a lot of prominent american artists but i remember him most from ariana grande's "we can't be friends" music video. i liked the concept of the mv and i fet like it matched with the song very well but there was nothing extraordinary about it. i didn't feel an urge to rewatch the mv again. whereas with christian, he also directed "earthquake" by jisoo, and most recently "fuck up the world" by lisa, which i've watched many times over becaus of how captivating the videos are. in general, western artists usually have plain music videos. that's just their style. there's nothing wrong with it but it's defintiely one of the factors that got me into kpop: how vibrant and grandiose the mv's are.

Honestly it's kind of a "money talks but wealth whispers" situation for me, in a sense that their presence alone is what's extra large about the video and they don't necessarily need a big scenario or cool effects to show how badass they are (and I would honestly be disappointed if they went for the obvious route, cause there's plenty of videos like that already imo)

So far, this is my least favourite release from this album, but it is very vibey. The MV has some cool shots but is in general not something I'll watch multiple times.

Andie

i'm not sure that its about kpop vs western videos (watch, like, beyonce's or gaga's mvs) but i do agree that the video could've been more consilient with the track, especially after ZEN

Yeah I think the motivation behind things like the Jennie purple body visual didn’t register for me, but it did look cool! If anyone knows what it was playing off of I’d love to know maybe I’m just missing the connection

Liv

I understand that they talk about sweat and their power over men so that’s why they did the pores visual + it’s humerus, I like a connection to the lyrics but personally the scalp was like a ew moment from the cg visual, but my brain firing different signals bc Doechii and Jennie’s looks went so hard so it was both pleasing and unpleasing bc of the follicles lol

Liv

Ahhh been waiting for this

Jennie AND Doechii on a Dem Jointz track ?!!? My wildest dreams have come true

Liv

Doechii is such a sick artist, loving her since finding her in 2020 and happy to see her around so much!
