Amazing! I love the fantasy of playing a lightning focused build. Is the intent that you would still be able to use shocking grasp in melee without disadvantage on the attack roll.

Mechanically speaking: If you're making spells for it, it'd be awesome to have a ranged lightning cantrip other than Shocking Grasp and Lightning Lure. It'd allow you to have a more unique level 1 feature instead of somewhat copying the Reanimator's. As is, Shocking Grasp is the only (effective) cantrip viable with Electric Charges, so you're forced to build for melee combat as it's a touch spell. I feel like that takes away alot of freedom of choice around your Esoteric Theory choices. I feel like this subclass wants to be a blaster, and I don't think that's gonna be as effective when I have to be in melee combat to make most of the subclass features work...with a d8 hit die. I also think the Survival skill would be appropriate skill for the first level feature. Like it allows you to use your knowledge of electromagnetism to navigate and hunt, much like it works in animals. You could either let Survival use Int, or give Survival rolls a bonus equal to your Int modifier to make it more viable.
