Dungeon Dudes Early Video Release: Failing is FUN!!

Comments

Hey there guys! My wife and I are on our second time through the Drakkenheim story (YouTube) - it's great, and we love that it's "clean" (we caught up to the current play, and went back and started at the beginning). Anyway, we also play a couple TT campaigns - but one thing that I personally do is strive for a character build that is not "10 feet tall and bulletproof"! I don't want the 30 AC, the 35 on Stealth, or the ability to do one-shot kills. I like characters that are lacking in some areas or are just not plain invincible - just more "human"... I mean life has its ups and downs, so why not D&D as well? The example you gave of failing to death trying to jump a chasm - I like that a fail could simply be a slip and fall at the edge (before the jump), and perhaps a dex check by a comrade to see if they can save me before I slide/tumble over the edge. Mind you, I'm also a fan of the consequences of a crit fail, like a broken bow string, or hitting the closest character (even a friend) to the intended target. Anyway, great job "Dudes"! If D&D was to loosely imitate life, then we should have set backs.

cant remember the full quote but it goes something like i am grateful for the sad times cause it makes the good ones hit harder.
