2024-12-07 19:30:26 +0000 UTCSo! I was a bit behind, when you entered this Chimera Ants arc and now after I have caught up I sort of formed my opinion on this. Obviously that may change, but so far I have enjoyed this arc a lot! Despite me not liking insects, I don’t mind them here that much, because the story seems to be promising and I can already say, why there are people saying this arc is the best shōnen arc ever. The thing I am not sure is why there are people hating it? Like regardless of everything it seems to be very well written and based on reactions of others here, who have seen it already, it is apparently thought-through arc. I assume the sudden shift from the previous arc is shocking to some people and they might have enjoyed the previous vibe more. But when you think about these shifts have happened in this show before, only not in such a drastic way. It does not come close (yet) to Phantom Troupe arc, but I am way more into this one than I was into the previous one. The previous one was so random… right after such an epic Phantom Troupe arc we got some “Yu-Gi-Oh! spin off season”. I am aware it was not a spin off season, but it all felt so… “filler-ish”, like there was a moment those bad guys got “out of the game” to kill the other guy, which was the key part of the climax for the whole plot and it felt like a few scenes or whole episode was skipped out of nowhere. Here it all feels we have entered something big and important. Besides insects, the only problem I have is the absence of Kurapika and Leorio, which is unfortunately a thing for this manga/anime… I don’t get that… why did the mangaka introduce them as the main characters, when they randomly stop to have any impact on the story every second arc… I guess, besides Hunting For Your Dream ending and Kurapika’s bloodlust, I highly appreciated that our gang interacted with each other and there was sort of unity among them in the arc. I mean… sure, Leorio might have died easily here, but then why didn’t he get any power up?? And anyway… Kurapika would have been fucking epic here, so why didn’t he come here?? That is as if there was a Harry Potter movie/book in which Ron Weasley would have said: “Nah… I am not coming to Hogwarts this time, have fun without me!”
