2024-11-28 13:08:58 +0000 UTCIts probably best to start on SHINee as a group first then their solo work. But still up to you. Either way, am looking forward to it as you’re truly digging into SHINee’s rabbit hole and I sincerely love your honest reaction. You have no idea how I cried with you while being happily overwhelmed with Onew. He is my bias and similar to you, has brought me so much joy and comfort in my life’s journey. And SHINee are not simply idols but true artists.

2024-11-28 08:46:10 +0000 UTCI think you should definitely delve into the member’s solo works, mainly Jonghyun and Onew’s (Though I don’t believe we ever got listening parties for Taemin’s albums prior to Advice era, and if you haven’t listened to his Never Gonna Dance Again album then I think you’re missing out). After that I’d go through the group discography starting from The Story of Light (you’ve already listened to Don’t Call Me and Hard) and working backwards from there. Afterwards you could delve into their concerts.

2024-11-27 19:13:01 +0000 UTCThe line distribution on their older songs is definitely more skewed, mainly because Onew is singing his own lines in addition to singing a lot of Jonghyun’s lines (which are very high and very hard). I believe his lines were split mainly between Onew Key and Taemin (you can definitely see this more in their most recent concert SWC 6). Onew being the 2nd main vocalist back then meant he shared a good portion of the harder lines and belting with Jonghyun, which doubled in amount now that he’s no longer with us. But Taemin and Key have improved so much over these years and have been able to pick up some of his lines as well, so the vocal responsibilities don’t fall solely on Onew.
Lena
2024-11-27 19:00:44 +0000 UTCI don't think the order really matters and you're prob best off listening to whichever you're in the mood for at whatever moment (maybe traveling backward would make more sense than chronological?) -- but with where you are right now, the first logical step for you has gotta be onew's dice! dice dice dice

2024-11-26 23:14:50 +0000 UTCPretty sure pd reacted to this in one of his livestreams before lol but i mean he does have renewed appreciation for the boys so maybe he’ll love it more now ☺️
JT
2024-11-26 18:35:38 +0000 UTCPretty sure you already reacted to a concert version of sherlock in one of your livestreams. Your mind was blown too if i recall correctly lol. Now you have seen sherlock as 5, as 4 and as 3 😂

2024-11-26 18:34:22 +0000 UTCIn this episode they also had a Lovelyz reunion concert will you check it out ?

2024-11-26 18:02:07 +0000 UTCI would say solo listening parties and then maybe concerts in that order? Also was Key’s Killer comeback ever caught up with ?

2024-11-26 14:48:59 +0000 UTCPD please react to Taemin's KGMA live performance. As for SHINee, I agree with everyone. SWC IV or Tokyo Dome. SWC V is really great too. Well, SHINee's concerts in general are amazing. So, you can't go wrong whatever you choose.

2024-11-26 14:19:32 +0000 UTCThe lower key in the first chorus that you like was Taemin.

2024-11-26 12:10:08 +0000 UTCsince you've seen a lot of their solo stuffs i suggest you to get into jonghyun first to get the gist of his music (his is personally my favorite after key's among shinee) AND THEN go to their group stuffs (youve seen how complete they are as 4... but you should see how GOOD they are as 5). i highly recommend their tokyo dome concerts
Shia
2024-11-26 12:08:22 +0000 UTCI recommend the Sherlock (Clue+Note): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4pINahBoRY this was a concert one of my absolute favorites because a lot of my favorite stages are from that but this is very theatrical dramatic and is a bit of an arranged version with all members i highly recommend this!

2024-11-26 05:27:47 +0000 UTCHave you heard Key Hologram album? Cause I love City Girl and WHT are yoy hear? Or for that matter Taemin's Japanese songs.... I think yes it would be a good idea to delve into their solo work to pick up on their different vocals tones more cause getting into shinee group music you will see lots of vocal layering and it will easier for you to pinpoint who sang what.

2024-11-26 05:12:29 +0000 UTCConcert reactions?... even if cut into parts would be awesome 👌

2024-11-26 05:07:30 +0000 UTCI mean, it's SHINEE and it's not just bc they're SM trained. During the Hangout with Yoo show....before the final summer festival concert they had an episode or 2 where they invited the guys over and had a chat/interview (Yoo Jae Suk did the same with ALL the participants in the festival-Lovelyz, Kim Tae Woo, Day6, randomly the actor Im Won Hee) During the interview they guys talked about how when they were young they were so green and did everything 110% and with full sincerity (including Minho's viral cringey rap during a weekend show interview). Mijoo even said all the other idols at the time would purposely go and watch the rehearsals during weekend shows bc SHINEE always went ballistic during even just rehearsals

2024-11-26 04:52:53 +0000 UTCThis whole summer concert arc for Hangout was GREAT and not just SHINEE. The Lovelyz portion was actually REALLY emotional....well worth checking out. It made me fall in love again with Lovelyz

2024-11-26 03:43:33 +0000 UTCSHINee, man. I remember back in 2013, when people were asking if they had peaked after the Misconceptions of Us double album was released. And now, here they are, over a decade later still challenging and exceeding expectations. To do these songs live is quite the feat, as you can see and hear. Of course the line distribution was at one time different. I can't recommend that you watch The Best: From Now On concerts in early 2018 right now (they are very, very hard to see), but some day in the distant future, when you've gathered your courage, you'll watch and then look back at this video and be amazing at how much they've improved vocally. It is genuinely astonishing. Their tone, their stamina, I mean, the difference is staggering. As for concerts, I'd go with SWIV in Tokyo Dome!

2024-11-26 01:46:47 +0000 UTCyessss jjong albums would be so good. I would love to know his thoughts on the Story Op albums.

2024-11-26 00:29:36 +0000 UTCAhhh this made me happy to see in my feed. As a long time viewer/lurker it’s soooo exciting that you’re getting into my ult group now!! I think honestly a concert would be the next best step like others are saying, as odd as that may seem. It’s where they truly show why they are still so loved and respected. They own the stage. I sent the link to the Tokyo dome 2014 concert a while ago that you said you’d be downloading. I would recommend that one!! It will give a good understanding of their personalities as a group and solo since it has both in it too so it’s kinda like everything in one package

2024-11-25 23:42:05 +0000 UTCHaha, I think you’d like the official 4K fancam version of this performance even more! It’s a much better view of all the choreo and I think the sound quality of the vocals comes across better than the broadcast version, too. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKn-CVh7D2o Also, incredibly enough, Onew had a stuffy nose that day. (Someone made a compilation of him sniffling… as one does, I guess: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyRsUvdQ53) It’s a real testament to his breath control and whale-sized lungs that he was still able to belt like that. And yeah, he does have quite a lot of lines, particularly in their older songs where he was the lead vocal to Jonghyun’s main vocal. When Jonghyun passed away, his lines were partitioned among the group, but Onew (and Taemin as well) got, I would say, the majority. And when Onew was on hiatus, obviously Key, Taemin, and Minho had to take all of his lines as well - they did an absolutely wonderful job, but I’m pretty sure Key’s happy to never have to do that high, long note in HARD again, lol. Minho is the tallest! Then it’s Key, then Onew and Taemin are about the same height, and then Jonghyun was the shortest of the group. They’re not a particularly tall group, on average. I honestly think they could sing and dance Lucifer in their sleep at this point, but it’s still impressive as hell every time. If you’d like to react to a five-member Lucifer, I really, really recommend this performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wtn-TAxcJ4A Great vocals and amazing energy. You should definitely get into SHINee. ;) I think whatever order you’d like to do is fine. But for me, while I love their solo work, their group performances are really SHINee’s essence. I’d personally watch or listen to at least three group performances to every single solo reaction. It’s like the Avengers: watching them together is beyond satisfying.

2024-11-25 23:05:44 +0000 UTCPD thank you so much for these SHINee reactions 😭 i cant wait for you to get into their concert performances. Personally, i really love Jonghyuns solo works ill be waiting patiently :))

2024-11-25 22:53:27 +0000 UTCIf you want to get into group stuff, I DEFINITELY recommend watching live performances, I always say that their songs hit different if you watch them from concerts... especially the SHINee World IV stuff! and you could also check out the newest one, SHINee World VI, they did it around the same time of the Hangout With Yoo festival. You could also check the MVs that you haven't checked out yet. If you want to get to know them a bit more you can also check out their variety stuff, they did a lot of that in their last comeback but Onew wasn't there unfortunately. The Fanmeeting they did in 2023 is also great (before Onew's hiatus). When it comes to members individually, I'd recommend checking out Jonghyun, Minho and Onew since they're the ones that you've missed out more than Taemin and Key. However, I do recommend checking Key's concert KEYLAND and Taemin's concert METAMORPH... and his performance at the KGMA 2024, also consider watching Taemin live if you're able to g! He's going to the US in February with his new concert EPHEMERAL GAZE <3

2024-11-25 22:50:23 +0000 UTCIf you enjoyed this Sherlock performance, I highly recommend their Sherlock (Clue + Note) stage at SHINee World IV. The vocals are insane. Jonghyun adds another layer to their performances - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4pINahBoRY. As for the order to check out Shinee, I think either order (solos to group or group to solos) is fine, but it might be a different experience. If you do group to solo, you can see how each member sets themselves apart from the group. But if you do solos to group, you can see how each of the member's individual color adds to the group's dynamics.
Lyla
2024-11-25 20:12:02 +0000 UTCsince you're already familiar with taemin and key's solo stuff maybe you can check out the rest of onew, jonghyun and minho's stuff first and then fully get immersed in the group experience. also like another comment mentioned, i believe shinee concerts are a must watch as well as live performances. also they have so much variety when it comes to their music and vocals throughout their entire discography, it's truly a ride that even i, as a fan of 15 years, sometimes have a hard time digesting because they're so amazing and constantly keep outdoing themselves yknow?

2024-11-25 20:06:49 +0000 UTCTo be honest, I don't think the order really matters, but since you've started with the solo stuff, maybe it would be logical to continue with it? I think it would be really cool to see both how they sound alone and how they merge when singing and performing together. But I also agree with other commentators that when you choose to start with SHINee, they are so much more epic live - especially with their concerts. There are two Onew's albums (debut Voice and Dice EPs) and five Jonghyun's albums (debut EP Base, compilation album Story Op.1, studio album She Is, compilation album Story Op.2, and studio album Poet|Artist), Minho's debut Chase EP and Call Back studio album - you've checked Taemin's and Key's albums already, so there are those to check out. Especially Jjong's Story Op.1 and 2 - those are incredible compilation albums that are really healing. In terms of SHINee - concerts. Nothing else will give you a better understanding of them as a unit. Concerts are where they shine (pun intended) the most, both Korean and Japanese, and we have previously suggested two especially important concerts - Shinee World 2014 in Tokyo Dome (a concert held in 2015 as an encore for their Japan tour, and the first time they performed at Tokyo Dome - an incredible concert. There are links that can be shared, with the recording having subtitles since members mostly speak Japanese) and Shinee World IV. The latter is considered by many to be the best concert of the group. It's right before their View comeback, so it's also 2015, but two months after the Tokyo Dome concert. It's honestly perfect in every way, with everyone showing so much energy and skill. If you want a taste of both concerts, there are two essential videos on YouTube: I would highly suggest watching an opening performance of SW2014 - Everybody, and an iconic performance of Excuse Me Miss from SW4. Just really start with those two if you want to see a glimpse of the epicness that is SHINee during their concerts. Also, if you want to feel personally attacked by Minho, then watched Dynamite from SW4 concert :)

2024-11-25 19:42:11 +0000 UTCI think a fun way might be going through old concerts! So it can be a spoiler of old albums and songs before reacting to them. I’ve seen shawols suggesting in the comments the Tokyo Dome concerts, where there are solo stages in between group stages. If you want recommendation: -Shinee World IV in Tokyo Dome (2014) (dropping a link 👀https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bwrUReQ7LxzoBdQMZsmYyWAbOQ7TFxlR/view?usp=sharing) the concert that was the beginning of everything for them. It’s really a must watch, an emotional wreck from the beginning to the end. The Everybody performance in the white suits comes from this one. -The Shinee World V in Tokyo Dome (2016) (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t3RPmKarcK9pMU7Ig6UhGBDGWTkF4Fll/view?usp=sharing) If they were extremely good before, in this one they are god level. There are so many performances from this concert that become part of Shawols must watch list lol. In Japan they usually perform their Japanese albums, so the version with Korean discography is -Shinee World IV in Seoul (2014) https://youtu.be/oD1thSFdIbY?si=-m_IUuttceccy98v -Shinee World V in Seoul (2015) https://youtu.be/5wskwvyUaOs?si=P8zcNWIbUlsxzpb2 Also pure excellence, I can not even pick a favorite, but in chronological order it’s really evident the growth of each one of them. Welcome to Shinee World!

2024-11-25 19:08:14 +0000 UTCTaemin did an amazing job especially when there wasn’t onew and after Jonghyun he is the one who takes his parts, also depends on song there’s different member who is more present . In ShInee everyone does great because they are only four so they need to do everything really really well for them to bring that much presence! I wish u could do group especially tehm Doing live performances all 5 ❤️❤️❤️
Taeminara
2024-11-25 18:57:06 +0000 UTCShinee concerts especially with five members are art , something else only group which probably can match their energy is ATEEZ
Taeminara
2024-11-25 18:53:01 +0000 UTCIn terms of deeper dive into Shinee, I do recommend going with live performances instead of MVs. Shinee and Bigbang are the two groups I think shine the most when it comes to the live performances. The instrumental of some of the older songs can sound dated, especially the ones that were created for stadium performance ( a lot of the songs from The Misconception of Us or the old SMP style songs), however, Shinee's live vocals and the live instruments have always been able to elevate the songs and keep them fresh. Shinee World IV an V are good starters. The Sherlock performance from SW IV is forever my personal favorite. I think you have checked out most of Taemin/Key's stuff. So maybe in between Shinee live performances, do album listen of Onew and Jonghyun? For Jonghyun, I personally recommend starting with She is and then Poet|Artist then going back to the older stuff. I can't objectively rank Poet|Artist. But I think She is is his best work among the rest of his albums, in which his musical mind and artistry along with his vocals still fanscinate me to this day.

2024-11-25 18:47:52 +0000 UTCJourney with Shinee as a group and as solo are very different experiences, because in solos members have distingly different sound of one of Shinee, it's one person show where they show a personal colour, whereas in group each member has a role and specific parts to shine and then all their separate colours emerge in one bright light while they harmonize, which is truly magnificent. I would recomment to go full into Shinee as a group first, because together they create a special magic that can't be recreated in solo. As for ending this year you MUST see Taemin's full performance in KGMA, man he was divine, especially vocals!! That was the most intense performance he has done yet even by Taemin's standards!

2024-11-25 18:44:30 +0000 UTCI started through Key and Taemin and discovered SHINee after, but I don't think it matters as much which way you go. I'd actually saved a Jonghyun song years before that too but didn't realise it was him for a while. I think if you think you'd appreciate them as a group more after hearing their solo style and "knowing" all of them as artists better, then maybe try that? Or just dabble and see what you feel like at the time/mix group and solo and do fully chronological like someone else suggested, I think Jonghyun debuted after Taemin, then it was Key, Onew, then Minho?
Flossie
2024-11-25 18:19:11 +0000 UTCIn terms of discography listening, I’m more of chronological order of group and solo.Like 2014 is taemins solo debut then in 2015 it’s View so there’s a variety of music also esp how the members vocals changed. The complicated part is their Japanese discography mixed in as well that gets sprinkled in. Welcome again to Shinee World.

2024-11-25 17:29:46 +0000 UTCYes this is the first time Onew performed complete member song for Hard right before their encore concert. It’s funny Key knows this song paid the bills and the members aren’t a fan of this song but Minho loves this song cause it annoys Key lol to divide the 5 part line distribution to 4 was work and at the time Onew was lead vocal before they shifted to all equal vocal positions. what I could gather, Onew had neck surgery during his break and he also did “the manager” episode with his new company. The CEO/Manager of his current company is a close friend school friend and Zico’s ex manager.
