Today I want to talk about references

This is a very important thing for my work, since I do copying 😃

In the Lord of the Rings universe there are very, very beautiful armor and weapons, I really like modeling and sculpting them. Many of them are very detailed, such as Elendil's armor, which I had incredible fun creating. They have a lot of details, patterns, weathered surfaces and all this is combined in a very interesting way.

In order to create something like this in such a way that it looks like the original, you need very good reference images in which every detail, even the smallest one, can be seen.

The quality of the final work directly depends on the quality of the references.

It happened a few times that I couldn't find decent images of what I needed. This usually frustrates me because I want to make everything perfectly similar, although I understand that this cannot be achieved 100%, but I still want to get as close as possible. When I can’t find the images I need, I look for reviews/unboxings on YouTube or the moment I need in the film 😊

I would especially like to thank those who send me excellent quality references for my future projects:

Thank you, my dears Michael Shea, Andrzejv2, Zalkegeroth, Andrew Stivison ❤❤❤

This helps me incredibly, I get a kick out of images like this where you can see every scratch and depth of pattern on a weapon/armor/helmet. Sometimes it scares me how much I like it 😅

It is equally important when you, my Patrons, or one of my subscribers on Instagram, point out to me any inaccuracy in my 3D models. This helps me improve my skills, quality of work and attentiveness.

In the event that it is impossible to find 100% representative images for my project, I use what I have - fuzzy pixel ones and try to figure out how everything should be there. It takes more time and resources, but it can be interesting because I feel like I was involved in the creation of the original weapon/armor that I am now trying to copy. This may be a little strange, but when I see that a decent result is obtained, I am very proud of myself 😊

And I am even more proud of my work when you, my dear Patrons, praise my 3D models and sincerely say that you like them and this is incredibly valuable and pleasant for me!

In general, my plan is this: to finally recover, continue to improve in my 3D modeling practice and receive more and more praise and feedback from you, my beloved Patrons, and be even more proud of what I do, develop further, etc.

I think it's a good plan and I like it

Thank you for your kind words ❤ I'm happy to receive such feedback and very pleased to know that the effort I put into 3D modeling produces such impressions! I will continue to improve in my work ^_^

I was working with few others 3d modelers and none of then had this incredible skill to "understand" nature of LOTR props, that you have Marrion. Your models are 10000% accurate with original props and perfectly matching with our collectors expectations. Keep up the great work! :)

Oh, thanks a lot for the link ❤ And don't worry, The Lord of the Rings is forever in my heart 😊 One day I might get myself something like this - it looks very interesting and informative!

You probably know about these, but if you ever do The Hobbit props (personally more a fan of LotR so don't switch :-D ), the 'Chronicles' books by Weta Workshop are a gold mine for really good reference material of the original props (https://www.wetanz.com/eu/shop/books/the-hobbit-motion-picture-trilogy).
