June work!

Hey all!  thanks for hanging out!

IDK if any of you have noticed but I have removed nearly every photo from past posts because almost every photo has been DMCA'd.

I will continue forward in a careful manner.  And if I receive another DMCA I will challenge it.  Then I hope to open a dialogue with GW and see what I can do to avoid such issues in the future.  I still believe in what we are doing here...

and what is that? you may ask...

I love 40k even if I don't have time for it, or very often, money for it, its expensive.  I firmly believe that using my abilities  to provide affordable proxy miniatures for use in GW games is a legit enterprise.  But clashing with GW is not a great idea; many in the 3d printing community have had success in working with them to find some common ground instead of getting all pissed off and antagonizing them, which was, I admit, my first reaction. (shout-out and wave to whoever it is here in the Patreon that is reporting back to them,,, no hard feelings bub :)  )

So, this month I think I will make one of the remaining units in the Codex, probably one of the heavy flier units.  I will make sure its shape is unique and the iconography is more SW than GK! lol  Ill probably start with the smallest one and then likely I will have time for something simple for the 1K Hijos.

Then we'll see what we see.

Thanks again! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

One thing you can start doing is advertising these as models for Grimdark Future (One Page Rules) which is a great, streamlined, fun tabletop war game. Base ruleset is free. They have a Knight Brotherhood. I see GW being the same position the music industry was in in the late 90s, early 00s. They had two choices, embrace new technology, adapter their business model, and learn to evolve. Or sue consumers and fans. Of course, we know what the music industry did, and while they often won in court, their business model still died, because you can't stop progress of technology and what people want. Digital music and streaming is now the standard. GW is facing that same choice today. They can adapt, change their business model, embrace the new technology, and grow as a company, become the defacto leader in the field. Or they can hold onto old business models, sue customers and fans, and eventually be forced to change as the world passes them by. They don't seem to have learned anything from history and seem to be on the path to repeat the mistakes of the music industry. Facts are that 3D printing is evolving at an ever faster pace, it keeps getting better, keeps becoming more accessible, and continues to become cheaper. You can get a 4K resin printer for a couple hundred dollars. Or the cost of a GW box set.

I know they are just triyng to protect themselves i get that, there just taking things too far and going about it wrong in their approach and in their god complex issues .... love the games and lore just the company itself has lost alot of shine with me this past 2 or 3 years as ive gotten more in to the printing and design side of things, which for me anyway, i know others do it for cost and other reasons but for me its having something different and unique looking (and hopefully well painted lol) sitting on the table to look at

I understand the sentiment - and I think that while very annoying, they are doing what they think is best to protect their IP. I certainly understand they took heavy inspiration from other work... as does almost every artistic venture... that said if they tried to sue every single infringer they would likely loose money, they know suing small creators is a losing proposition . I also know they are willing to work with creators to find solutions that allow them to stay in business. This is where I want to with them given the opportunity.

Gw are twats, they stole most of thier core ideas from early sci fi books anyway, there policy is to chuck out as many DCMAs as they can even on stuff that CLEARLY is not infringing on any IP, just mealy because they were " armoured space fairing soilders" and they then see "what sticks" 90% of the time they have no basis for this and just doing to try and scare off creators, i myself have had 2 or 3 letters about my posts or custom designed upgrades, i just give em the big middle finger back and tell them to bring it on..... they have never once "brought it on" and my posts and upgrades are still their... Take from that what you will but NEVER just roll over and take it, challenge everthing....
