I use L-Lysine if I feel a cold sore starting. You can tell by the tingle sensation, but not ASMR related :o) Cold sores form on the lips and are caused by a herpes virus. The L-Lysine helps to speed healing, but does not prevent an outbreak. Over the counter medications like Campho-Phenique or Abreva are available, but costly. I have a bottle of 100 L-Lysine tablets, and there are enough tablets in that bottle to outlast me. Mouth ulcers may be herpes related, but there are many other causes. Other possible causes might be irritation from a sharp edge on a tooth, or some sort of caustic chemical contact. The L-Lysine may help if herpes related, otherwise you may have ride it out. I hate those things. They seem to stay around forever, until one day you notice it is finally gone. Anbesol, Orajel or other topical pain reliever can make it bearable. Many sympathies ...
