This week, an incredible, virtuosic bit of rock n roll from Franny Beecher. For those of you who don't know the name, he was Bill Haley's guitar player. Before that, he was a member of Benny Goodman's band (like Charlie Christian before him), and you can definitely hear his jazz background coming out in this piece too.
There are tons of great licks here: feel free to skim through the video and learn one or two of your favourites, or if you're feeling brave you could attempt the whole thing.
I've written out the whole piece below. There are 3 or 4 chorus in the transcription which I don't discuss in the video, but much of the material is very similar anyway. Each of the 12 bar sections has a letter name. With the fingerings, I've gone with what feels right to me, but there are multiple ways you could play some of these licks. If something isn't working for you, feel free to adjust where you play the licks to make them more comfortable.
Hope you have fun with it. There's no backing track for this one, as I play it unaccompanied in the video, but you could always but together a simple blues backing with a looper pedal if you want.
Have fun and speak next week!
