Townside Hedge Park [37x32]

**Welcome to Townside Hedge Park map measuring 37x29, a serene and charmingly rustic escape from the bustling city beyond. The circular path is lined with blooming flowers and bushes, creating a picturesque scene around the central fountain and benches. Lush green areas with trees and more bushes offer privacy and seclusion. The park is filled with the sweet aroma of flowers, and the sounds of birds chirping and water splashing in the fountain create a peaceful atmosphere.

As you wander further from the center of the park, a statue of a warrior catches your eye on a nearby sidewalk. Surrounding the statue are a few scattered flowers left by those who remember him. The area around the statue is well-maintained, adding a touch of elegance to the charmingly rustic surroundings. Despite being on the outskirts of the city, this park feels rejuvenated and alive, offering a peaceful respite from the bustle of urban life.**

37x29 Encounter and story map, Townside Hedge Park! The fountain can be replaced with a statue of an ancient hero or left as an empty space. All of the lanterns in the park can be lit, creating a peaceful ambiance. Beware, though, as the outer bushes may be armed with dangerous vines and thorns, which can serve as opponents or as a warning to stay on the designated paths.

Ah I see the confusion, when I first mentioned "crowns", I was envisioning fully opaque, leafy crowns. When a token is above them, they can't see below them. That is what usually you see in the FG layer (or as individual Overhead tiles, even better). Usually you can't see "through" the trees. I didn't realize that your VTT BG map didn't have any of this stuff baked in. I assumed it was baked in like the other tiers, and your overlay would actually be opaque crowns. I think the solution is to also include BG.webp and FG.web in the lower tier distribution. Or, even in a Battlesmith distribution that is not a FVTT module In short, I think it would be grand to be able to access every asset used in the FVTT module without having to use it download them and then extract them. Remember, there are VTT's out there that have Overlay support that aren't FVTT or Forge. Lots of them. I can think of three off-hand, and more on the way. I can also think of print use-cases where people would not want the FG layer baked in. So, having an option where it's not baked in will give flexibility. Regardless, with this approach, I can do really nice stuff like this in FVTT Core: - BG.webp as scene background - FG.webp as scene foreground, at bottom of crown height, say 10 feet - individual overlay vegetation crowns, at top of tree, say 30 feet (varies) Et Voila. This is the way. :-) That gives you a proper physical delineation between somebody beneath the tree, in the tree, and flying above the tree, all without having to use a module like Multilevel. Those tokens also "see" different things, as they should.

I must say that everything is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. If you add shadow crowns on top of a map that already has them, it will be too dark. So we need to make a version without baked shadows (like the one in the foundry module). However, if we do it right, then we need to prepare also a version with a grid, without a grid, day and night without crowns. The same goes for tiles, you need a version without a crown, otherwise you will get double shading in such a place. In other words, we need to prepare and export twice as much data as we do now. Not to mention the fact that the PNG version of the crown can weigh up to 75 megabytes (in webp it will be less, but still). I'm not saying that we will never consider this possibility in the future, thanks for the idea, we will definitely consider it, I just want to explain our position that there are reasons for such a decision.

Thanks for the quick reply. Gotcha. Any chance in the future we could start see all relevant files in the .zip's as well? These overlays are tiny after all. :-) Much smaller to include the overlays vs. including an entire full map (twice for gridded and gridless) with the crowns in place so that that maps are complete and usable. In the meantime I can download the module and extract them. Thanks!

Hello, the version of the map without trees + crowns as a separate PNG is available through the foundry module. We usually do not include these files in archives.

The tree canopy png's are missing from Overlay. Is this intentional or oversight? Those are super handy for VTT's which support overhead tiles...
