Winter Cave [25x35]

Thick banks of snow crunch underfoot along the rarely travelled trail that carves its way through the pine-covered mountain peaks. The frigid temperatures sap the adventurers' strength, but a cave carved into the mountain side should provide ample shelter on the perilous journey...

A 25x35 wintery encounter map, for those whose adventurers are trekking through artic conditions!

The path makes travel easier, but the ascending cliffs, thick with snow and pines, provide ample cover for potential ambush. While the cave may provide shelter (or danger) for those who approach it.

Encounter Suggestions

Encounter A:

-Livestock and even the farmers themselves are easy prey for the Young White Dragon that has made its home in the nearby mountains. A local lord has offered a generous bounty to the adventurers if they can bring back its head.

Encounter B:

-The Merchants' Guild would benefit immensely from the opening of a new trade route through the mountains. The adventurers take the payment to clear the passage for travel. The mountain yetis have other ideas and harass any who enter their territory.

Encounter C:

-A fierce blizzard harries the adventurers as they make their way through the mountains. The cave they stumble upon should provide shelter till the worst of the storm passes. The only problem is that it's also the den of a pack of Winter Wolves...

Overlay Tiles preview:

Using the overlay tiles, you could make the map a simple trail through the mountains. Alternatively, a snow-in tile could be used to cover the entrance of the cavern as the players desperately seek cover. Perhaps the cave lies empty, just cold with frost, or there is the grisly remains of a monster's last meal. Lastly, the outpost could be used as a common stopping point for those on a dangerous journey.
