Patreon compressing high res files; changes to uploading structure
Added 2017-07-02 19:04:38 +0000 UTCHey all!
I had something brought to my attention, which is that apparently Patreon is compressing the HQ files I upload as attachments to posts.
Someone informed me that the Patreon HQ files have artifacts of compression in them. I save my JPEG files at essentially perfect quality, so that shouldn't be the case.
On the most recent upload, the high resolution JPEG that I uploaded to Patreon was 7.50 megabytes in size. But after re-downloading it from the Patreon post, the Patreon version was only 574 KB in size, or 1/15th the original size. This site is probably automatically compressing them to save space on their servers.
Anyway, I'm going to have to change the structure for uploading HQ files!
Instead of attaching them to posts, I'll put them in a ZIP folder and upload them in bulk, probably on a weekly basis. It'll take me some time to comb through my folders and collect all of the files for drawings I've already uploaded on my hard drive, so look for that in the coming days whenever I get time - I'm a little busy with arts to complete at the moment! Very soon, though, I'll re-upload the files at their proper sizes and clean up the old posts from my page.
Thanks for bearing with me!

You could try uploading the HQ ones as PNG. It's lossless so it wouldn't matter if Patreon re-compresses them, unless they also resize or something.
