March Update - Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE
Added 2021-03-06 10:27:07 +0000 UTCHey all!
You may have noticed that the frequency of updates to TPF has increased dramatically since the release of 4.0 in January. I was burned out from modding Skyrim before but 4.0 changes revitalised my motivation and I have a ton of cool things for TPF planned for the near future.
However, first things first.
Welcome to Paradise 1.5
Today I'm finally releasing the 1.5 update for my Fallout 4 Wabbajack list "Welcome to Paradise". It's a very niche v+ thing but I'm happy with it, and the custom work I did. Unfortunately I got burned out hard from Fallout 4 essentially the moment I published it last summer and the itch has not, as I had hoped, returned so far.
Nevertheless, I managed to finish 1.5 which contains the following changes:
- Updated all mods and related instructions.
- Updated Mod Organizer 2 to the new version 2.4.0.
- Added the new FallUI suite of interface overhauls.
- Updated my custom sorting overhaul to integrate better with FallUI.
- Added reg2k's new Photo Mode and some other new retextures.
- Finally implemented the optional LUT section.
- Updated ultrawide support (still can't test any of it).
- Went over my documentation - many small fixes and changes.
The Customisation section has vanished from the page. This is due to the fact that basically all interface customisation can now be done easily ingame through the FallUI MCM. The optional LUT instructions were simply added to a different page.
State of WTP: I am not currently working on WTP. With the 1.5 update, I have brought it to the point where I can just leave it be for the forseeable feature although I do plan to keep the included mods updated with maintenance updates. Whenever the Fallout itch makes its triumphant return, I will consider bigger updates again. For now, I'm focusing on TPF.
Incoming Backend Changes
One reason for why I updated WTP at last is because I'm about to make some structural changes to the website. For example, the top-level content folders will be renamed so that the website is no longer split into "Skyrim SE" and "Fallout 4" but rather "The Phoenix Flavour" and "Welcome to Paradise". This is done in preparation for additional Skyrim SE projects (which is my TPF addon in the near and a beginner's guide in the distant future).
These changes will break all existing links. I will update my folder structure for pictures at the some time which will break those, too. Y'all are welcome to make bets on just how many links and pictures I'll forget to update.
Before these structural changes I will very likely polish up my Mass Effect 2 draft so that all my branches are clean. It's very small but hey.
Next up for TPF
As some of you may have noticed, I polished up my TPF To Do list on Trello. You can very easily tell what I'm planning to do next, but here's a brief summary for the lazy ones:
- MO2 Update: MO2 to 2.4.0, flavour (heh) changes to icons 'n stuff, integration of some new 2.4.0 changes. This will probably be next up.
- Cities & Villages: Removal of Arthmoor's awkwardly jammed in town additions. Removal of at least JK's Lite Windhelm. Hopefully adding some decent alternatives.
- Landscape: Replace snow and potentially reach grass. DynDOLOD 3.0 and grass LOD. Maybe landscape texture changes which would include generating terrain LOD with xLODGen.
- Balancing: Quest reward adjustments, new enemy types. Maybe some new items, not sure yet.
The list is more or less in the order of priority and will be tackled once the aforementioned structural changes have been dealt with. Once I have those four things out of the way, I will take a break from TPF and work on the TPF Addon that's been spooking around in my head for some time now.
As always, these are my plans and nothing is guaranteed or promised. I have exams coming up in two weeks but the Easter holidays are around the corner as well. Here's to hoping I'll spend the two weeks productively instead of lying on my sofa like a depressed potato and getting drunk.

Well that's it for today, folks. I'll be streaming TPF again tonight @8pm CET on Twitch (right here), looking forward to seeing you there!
Happy modding!
