Outbreak Scenario 16

Five years into the zombie apocalypse, humanity has found diverse ways to adapt and survive. From fortified military bases and nomadic tribes to underground societies and artisan colonies, each type of settlement offers unique advantages and challenges. Imagine you're a survivor in this post-apocalyptic world:

Which of these communities would you choose to live in?

1. Fortress City: A heavily fortified settlement built around the ruins of an old military base, with strict security protocols and a self-sustaining community that grows its own food and recycles water. The leadership is military-esque, offering protection in exchange for work.

2. Nomad Tribes: Groups of survivors who constantly move in caravans, avoiding large groups of zombies and scavenging resources.

3. Agricultural Communes: Small farming communities that have fortified entire rural villages, specializing in agriculture and livestock. They barter surplus with nearby survivor groups and are self-reliant, with a focus on community and shared responsibilities.

4. River Settlements: Communities built on rivers or lakes, using water as a natural barrier against zombies. They rely on fishing and water-based trade.

5. Mountain Haven: Located in mountainous regions, these communities use the natural terrain for defense, limiting access to only a few controlled paths. They are isolated, self-contained, and have little interaction with the outside world.

6. Subterranean Societies: Groups that have taken to living underground in subway tunnels, basements, and bunkers. These societies are hidden from both zombies and hostile humans, emerging only to scavenge and trade.

7. Trade Hubs: Towns that have grown around pre-existing trade routes, fortified to protect against zombies. They focus on commerce and trade, attracting merchants, scavengers, and traders looking to exchange goods and services.

8. Artisan Colonies: Small settlements focusing on the revival of arts and crafts, aiming to preserve human culture. They trade their goods for necessities and are often more open to communal living.

Comments

Hmm, I feel like there's two potential types of settlements missing from this, Seasteading settlements, and like, a Scholarly/Science settlements which are dedicated to preserving humanities medical, scientific and technological achievements, and/or our history and literature. I guess I'd have to go with Artisanal Colonies because as a book, music and game lover that would probably be my best bet to be able to access stuff like that.

I love bunkers and forts any kind id kill to have a base like that

Death of minor

I wish we could pick more than one but since we could only pick one. I picked Fortress City because of all the types of defense measures you could think of and possibly even build if you or enough people in your camp are tech savvy. The ones that got my eyes are Fortress City, Nomad Tribes, Agricultural Communes, Mountain Haven and Trade Hubs.
