Madison's gaze fixates on the solitary deadbolt anchoring the kitchen door, a slight crease forming on her forehead. "Why did you lock the door like that?"

Sophie shifts her gaze uneasily. A hesitant chuckle escapes her lips. "Well, it's our only line of defense, you know? Keeping people out was our priority. Didn't really consider the flip side much."

Madison's eyebrow arches. "But it also serves to trap people inside."

Sophie's laughter rings out again, more nervous this time, as she attempts to brush off the concern. "Oh, it's nothing. Look, we have the key." She brandishes a small brass key.

Before Madison can answer, Daniel's robust voice resonates from the doorway, beckoning everyone for the meal. They enter the kitchen, where hearty bowls brimming with steaming rice and lentils, enriched with a savory beef stew, adorn the table. Brody's hunger, overriding his wariness, dives into the meal, the rich flavors awakening a sense of nostalgia. Madison, however, merely nudges her food around her plate.

As they eat, Sarah reiterates her heartfelt thanks to the twins for their bravery against the Cobras. Daniel joins in, his expression darkening as he recounts their struggles with Viper and his crew. "They've been like a plague to us, always badgering us to join them. But we're not about to stoop to robbery and violence for survival."

During this narrative, Madison catches Sophie and Moth exchanging secretive glances, an unspoken dialogue between them. Her curiosity, now piqued beyond restraint, bursts forth. "What's with all the secretive looks? And the locked door?" she asks, her tone sharper than intended.

Sophie's face suddenly flushes a deep crimson, her anger flaring as she points a quivering finger at the twins. "You're the reason! You robbed us at that hardware store nearby!" Her voice quakes with a mix of rage and accusation.

Brody's eyes widen, his face a canvas of shock and disbelief. "What? That's impossible. We've been at our uncle's since this whole nightmare began!"

Moth's voice, cold and accusing, cuts through the air. "Lies! We remember the pair of you, masked and armed, robbing us at gunpoint."

Daniel stands up, his imposing frame casting a long shadow across the room. "Everyone, please, calm down. This sounds like a big misunderstanding."

Madison glares at the group. "If we were the ones who robbed you, why would we help you now?"

Sophie, her eyes narrowed, and lips pressed into a thin line, says, "You probably thought you could get inside the house and take everything else we have. But I'm not fooled that easily." She gestures towards the door with a triumphant smirk. "I locked you in."
