Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven Sneak Peek

If you have been reading my sneak peaks, you will know that I have been including choices from recent missions I'm writing. It's been incredible to use these sneak peaks to understand the choices players would make given the scenario. For that reason, we will continue this month.

In the next scene, you will meet two new characters from Part 4. I won't spoil it for you, but you may or may never see these characters again. However, there are huge implications to meeting them.

With the immediate threat neutralized, you leave your ${vehicle} and walks towards the lone, ragged figure in the distance. He's bent over, hands on knees, gasping for breath, covered in dirt and grime, and the fabric of what once was a uniform hangs in tattered strips. When he stands, you see he's tall and lean and wrapped in muscle.

"Looks like you could use some help," you call out, stepping over with Reilly and Billie following close behind.

The stranger straightens, his chest heaving, and meets your gaze with a guarded look. "Thank you," he says with a rasp, each word a struggle.

Before another word is said, Billie adds, "Got another one coming."

You all turn to see another figure approaching through the tall grass. He's unarmed and obviously exhausted. As he nears, his features come into focus: dark hair, a lean muscular build, and a face that's seen more than its fair share of strife. Reaching your group, he pants out a name, "Jacob…Demoss."

He takes out a canteen from his belt and offers it to the tall man, who takes it and drinks from it, his gaze flicking between you all.

"I saw him being chased," Jacob says, pointing a shaky finger at the first man. "No ammo. Tried to catch up. You three…saved him."

With a nod of acknowledgment, you turn your attention back to the first man, "And you are?"

"Nick," he manages between deep breaths, "Nick Sans."

"You guys should sit down for a little bit. I have some granola bars in my bag you can eat and get back some energy," Billie says and fishes through her backpack.

"I don't want…anything to eat. I need you to drive me to my base." Nick turns to cough and then takes another deep breath. When he turns back, the color has returned to his face, and his voice sounds stronger. "Or give me your ${vehicle}."

"Is this guy for real?" Reilly asks and turns away from you. "I'll go wait by the car. I need a smoke."

"I'll take the granola bar if you're offering," Jacob says.

"Absolutely." Billie pulls out a folded piece of parchment paper and opens it to reveal several granola bars. She extends her arms to offer it to him, and he takes one with a smile.

Nick stares at you like he's waiting for an answer, so you say…
