Games by JimD Newsletter – Game Release, Zombie Exodus News
Added 2019-01-26 20:56:39 +0000 UTCJanuary was a big month for me as my first game from FableLabs was released. This project has changed titles a few times and met with some delays but finally is available. Besides that, I’ve made good progress on Safe Haven and can discuss some scheduling news.
Vampire Fiction
My new choice-based vampire game was finally released with the name, Vampire Fiction. To play the game, you will need to download the Tales app and search for Vampire Fiction under the Horror category.
A few things to know about this game:
- Currently, Tales is only out for iOS, meaning you can only play it on iPhones and iPads. An Android release is coming in 3-4 months.
- Like other apps like Choices and Episodes, Tales is a freemium app. My game is free to play, and you can experience every line of the story for free.
- Three episodes of Vampire Fiction are available now. Twelve more are planned.
- This game is nonlinear but less complex than Safe Haven. It is more along the line of A Wise Use of Time. I did program numerous paths, so I encourage you to try different playstyles and powers.
- Some episodes have a wait time before playing. You can purchase keys to unlock episodes whenever you wish. This is a way to support me as I get a percentage of key sales.
- Within episodes, you can also buy and spend gems to select premium choices. These choices bypass game mechanics, making the game easier. This is also a way to support me, as I make a percentage of sales. However, I spent a lot of time balancing the game, so you do not have to use premium choices. These are available to make your character feel more powerful.
I hope you enjoy Vampire Fiction. If you try it, let me know your thoughts.
Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven Updates
Part 2-2: I finished 100% of the Pharmacy Mission this month and all of the conversations with NPCs around camp. I plan to add Rosie as a romantic option and add a new scene for those pursuing the military storyline. I’m also coding in-app purchases for 25 more Skill Points and 15-20 more Attribute Points (not sure on amount yet). My plan is to finish in the first week of February and post it for testing in the testing tier on Patreon and a possible closed beta through Choice of Games. One of the conditions for all authors is to conduct testing with forum users.
Part 3: I have already written 2,000 words of Part 3. My plan is to write 5 chapters for Part 3 (chapters 8-12). Each chapter will be broken up into 3 scenes, published monthly for testing through Patreon. My first beta for Part 3 will be posted in February. I will post a firm date in early February.
At 15 scenes, Part 3 will take 15 months to write and code. My guess is that every chapter, I will spend 1 month editing, troubleshooting, and adding content based on tester feedback. So, my tentative plan is to publish Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven Part 3 in the Fall of 2020.
Time to get back to writing!
