In Defense of Witches - A Book Review
Added 2024-06-10 11:21:43 +0000 UTCDearest Patrons,
My first ever video book review.
I am trying to read more at moment.
Time away from the screen is precious and I spend most of it with my musical instruments, so adding some book time in has always been a bit of a chore, but I'm determined this year to get a few books under my belt.
This one was brought to my attention because I recently listened to a rather excellent podcast "WITCH". I highly recommend it.
I've recently been discovering that there's so much more to the history and practice of witchcraft that I didn't know and this was a chance to educate myself.
Little did I know how deep that rabbit hole goes.
It's given me so much inspiration for the next wave of Crimson Veil song, I think I have found a clear theme for the next record. More to come on that soon.
My review is short - I'll be trying to do one a month.
I'll be discussing these themes a little further at the next livestream (26th June), where I shall reveal the theme of the next album... oh yeah.
Hope to see you then!
Love from beyond the Veil,
Mishkin x

Hi Halvor, very, very interesting thanks so much for sharing this. It's a topic I'm currently quite obsessed with so I'll have a good look at the stories I can find. It's beautiful that there is some kind of memorial set up to remember these people. There is currently some petitions going on in Scotland for there to be a public apology for what happened and a memorial put in for those that suffered and died.

2024-06-15 11:29:45 +0000 UTCThere's a memorial to over 90 people that were burned as witches in the 1600s in Vardø in the north of Norway that i visited last summer. It's filled with testimonies about what they were accused of, what happened during their trials, and how long they were held for as prisoners at a torture facility before admitting to witchcraft. A lot of names are repeating as witnesses and persons involved in the cases and you can easily spot clear correlations of corruptive motives like people accusing someone they just didn't like or someone whose lover they coveted so they could get rid of them. Really powerful experience, i heavily recommend visiting sometime. Some pics here, i think i have phamplet with english translations somewhere, I'll post some pics if i find it. https://imgur.com/a/oaN7gB8
