Waiting for the fractures to 𝕴𝖑𝖑𝖚𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖆𝖙𝖊...

Dear Patrons,

It’s summer. My favourite time of the year when my arch-nemeses (the cold) fucks off for at least 2 months and life’s problems just melt away into the sunny evenings, my mind is awake and alert, and my little herb garden flourishes with new shoots and flowers.

I want to be outside. I want to create. I want to see people, make music and make the most of existence.

I feel lucky to be here right now, which is weird, I’m usually a bit of a pessimist. But I’m happy to feel good. Things could certainly be a lot worse.

This is a little strange seeing that the world is in such a mess and there is a lot of negativity to look at. I guess I've been steering clear from the news, and scrolling on social media. I find this generally makes me feel less anxious on the whole.

When I say I feel positive, I think it’s more an inward, introspective kind of self-assurance that has been creeping in as the days get longer and the world gets brighter. Or maybe I’m just coming up on a big, bipolar wave of mania?

Who knows.

Anyway, I feel strongly like I wanted to reach out and write to the people who support me - financially, emotionally and creatively. That’s YOU in case you were wondering 😉

June was a bit rough around the edges but so far July has been packed full of amazing work and projects. I’ve been working closely with Garry, Hana and Anna on the new songs and really taking our time to craft them. I’ve never been so happy and in my element with this fresh wave of creativity. I really can't wait to share all the new things that are coming up!

[Also this is a bit random (and maybe an overshare, sorry guys) but I’ve also been studying my menstruating cycle and discovering how I can use my hormones to my advantage. I had no idea how complex and also how predictable my cycle could be and I feel like I’m finally harnessing it. It’s good to gain control of your emotions and it’s something I really struggle with. If you’re interested in harnessing your hormones then I recommend this book called “Period Power” by Maisie Hill.]

Anyway - back to music. What I can tell you is we’ve selected the next song from HEX and it will be called 🕯 𝔦𝔩𝔩𝔲𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔞𝔱𝔢 🕯 It’s another dreamy, progressive slow build of a song with some killer riffs and gorgeous cellos. There’s also some odd time signatures from Anna and a possession-themed music video that involves… dance. It’s gloriously gothic and suitably macabre. If you’ve seen Suspiria then this one is for you.

This month on Patreon I've had to re-shuffle a few "things" so I think this month you will be receiving the first of the HEX remixes as the official thing

Trust me, this remix is not your average remix. It's been crafted and completely restructured to be it's own complete creation. It's a journey from start to finish and something I am hugely proud to release.

This remix will be part of the HEX trilogy, and comes from my long-time collaborator Third Bloom (who I am making my MF solo electronica album with) and it's DARK. You are going to love it trust me. I was blown away when I heard it...

Alongside that I will also be releasing an acoustic version of "Illuminate" - the next single from HEX, a livestream (a public one with special guest TBA).

My cover this month for the $50+ will be a Panic At The Disco song plus my vlog, photo box and moaarrr. Don't go anywhere because a lot  of huge things are on the way...

In other news I'm thrilled to see that my dear friend and collaborator Georgia Train is not only pregnant (congratulations!) but is playing a show to launch her album Needles & Pinches. I'm sure most of you already know of Georgia but it's great to see she's hitting the stage again (with some epic musicians) so if you can get there, the date is going to be Sunday 25th September, in Brighton and tickets are available here. OOoooooOOOhhh!

Finally (and I'm nearly done here), our drummer the incredible snare-smasher Anna Mylee is doing an online course for any of you aspiring drummers out there. You can sign up for "pad mastery" or "creative drumming", whether you're a beginner in rhythms or just looking to improve. All of us at Birdeatsbaby are also full-time working in the music industry and teaching is an excellent way for us to give back, whilst also helping to fund our various projects.

Anna is an incredible educator and very easy to learn from. Even Garry has signed up for the course! More information here.

Ok that's it from me. I hope my excitement is contagious and you are now feeling positive too... thank you for always supporting me and for listening to me ramble tonight.

I am going to Italy for a few days next week - it will be the first time I've left the UK since 2019. I will update you from Rome. Until then...

Love & Feathers,

Mishkin x
