September, my thoughts

It's so lovely to see so many new people this month! Welcome to club Patreon, the best place on the internet. π
Over the next few days I will be releasing the rest of the rewards to the $3+ tiers and up. Now is the time to up your pledge if you want to receive the two new songs Blame & The Putrid Brine.
Both tracks have been beautifully mixed here at The Nest, and featuring guests: Jonny Parlett (vocals), Hana Piranha (strings), Anna Mylee (drums), Arevieje (tar), Jacy De Sousa (clarinet and saxophone), Garry Mitchell (brass, bass, guitar, mixing and production) and of course myself (vocals, flute, accordion). The songs are sounding lush, intricate and well polished. I'm very excited to share them.
Release day for both tracks is WEDNESDAY.

September has actually be a bit of a tough one for me. I've not felt mentally well, or emotionally stable, and though I'm always motivated to do music I've not felt the same sense of joy I usually get from it's creation. I'm hoping this is a passing phase, I know a lot of friends and peers have experienced similar things over the last few weeks. I just have this feeling that I can't get it right, I'm depressed and detached, and wanting to be self-destructive. It didn't help that the only shows we had were cancelled due to another venue closure so it all felt a bit hopeless. In hindsight I think postponing them was better as it gave me a chance to rest and take care of myself.
I'm very grateful to have all you patrons to share to - it keeps me focused every month to keep going, be creative and connected, so thank you for being here.
I'll be doing some more livestreams soon too, I quite enjoyed the impromptu one I did the other day. I'll be sure to give more notice next time here, and in the meantime you can tell me your requests.
I hope all of you are doing alright. I really miss touring and connecting with you in person. I hope that will come back soon. Check your emails on Wednesday for the new songs.

Maybe because back in spring I decided that this month would be "okay" and so filled my diary for the first time on over a year. And then I've stayed in all month, after all - partly cos of my physical health, partly because, y'know, plague and plague anxiety. Have you watched any of Laura's weekly Penfriend videos? The latest is about burnout and she really captured how I feel sometimes. Worth a look, just cos it's quite relaxing as much as the wisdom π Anyway, am sending hugs and hoping October suits you better.
