Dearest Patrons,
It's been an incredible month. Our first (real) gig in a year and a half! We are still buzzing from the show.

We're finally starting to feel like we are moving forwards, together again as a band, and it's very exciting as we begin the official recording of album #6... HEX.
I have a few more things in the patreon bank before that happens, but I can tell you now this will be my last collaboration project for a while. It's been amazing working with so many musicians and creating music I didn't even know I could, but now it's time to take a breath, step back and look at my own writing for a while. I've been spending a lot of time working on many different things, balancing multiple projects and I need to now draw my focus back to Birdeatsbaby. This means I have many new songs to share with you over the next few months. Get ready for the weirdness.

However, before then, may I present to you this month's official "thing". It is a labour of love, a song of many parts, people, words and sounds... it is...
MISERY'S VALET
The story goes...
I got to know Jayem Wolf while playing at last year's Howl Festival. This is an independent festival which I got asked to play during the midst of the 2020 version of this ongoing pandemic. It was another opportunity to connect with musicians across the world when we are all stuck at home, unable to gig.
The festival was great fun, and I was lucky to meet quite a few more artistic people, and then got chatting with Jayem more about our musical interests and ambitions. We obviously decided to make a track together, seeing as we are both emo-goths. It didn't take long for the idea to unveil itself to us.

Several months and mixes later we are here with the patreon-ready song, "Misery's Valet". A song about sadness, demons, inner turmoil and pain.
It started off with just the words from Jayem... then came the chords from my piano... then some guitars from Garry... then it became a monster.
I hope you like it. It's very fun.
In Jayem's word "it's about Misery... I have a very toxic relationship with misery because I have PTSD and depression, and it's like you're kind of a slave... but on the other hand you enjoy it. It's not necessarily what I feel today but it's something I can relate to."
You can follow Jayem on Patreon too, where you will hear all about what it means to be a Tea Punk. I shall say no more.
Without further ado... here is the song, for your downloadable pleasure.
LYRICS
Born in mud, raised in dirt
Blood on hands, wicked words
Ever heard of devil's pawn?
I'm the son of the evil one
Holy wars in my head
Years i dreamed that i was dead
Evil sisters in my bed
Seeds of darkness in my bread
I'm the mistress of the demons in this world that we call hell
I'm the bearer of the darkness, Misery's Valet
Look into my eyes and tell me if you see a sign of a soul
am I human after all...
Snake is coiling in my veins
Full of rage and full of pain
In my heart a blood arrest
As it slithers in my breast
On my knees, I confess:
My past extorted deep regress
I'm a whore of misery
And she sings me into sleep.
I'm the mistress of the demons in this world that we call hell
I'm the bearer of the darkness, Misery's Valet
look into my eyes and tell me if you see a sign of a soul
(I need to know) am I human after all...
look into my eyes and tell me if you see a sign
look into my eyes and tell me if you see my mind
look into my eyes and tell me if you see a sign
of a soul
(I need to know) am I human after all...
look into my eyes look into my eyes
