Dear Patrons,
It's the final day of May.
I am writing to you from bed, I am totally exhausted from a month that including 3 video shoots, band rehearsals, recording sessions and a listening party. I have to get up today and teach piano... I feel sorry for my students. π
Things are ramping up again in the physical sense - for example I forgot how heavy my piano was to carry! And I forgot how much energy it takes to sing an entire Birdeatsbaby set. My stamina has definitely declined... but I can't wait to hit the stage again on 18th June at St Pancras Church, London.
Tickets are available here if any of you are thinking of coming.
Anyway, on to the THINGS!
For your listening pleasure now I have attached my collaboration with Third Bloom & PollyPikPockets, the brand new song "Dead Lights".
Yesterday we did a listening party, and chatted about the story behind the song. You can watch it again here to delve a little deeper.
And here are the lyrics....
Dead lights
Illuminate these cold skies
Make my
Sorrow take flight
Red eyes
Searching for the ones who hide
Mercy, oh
What have you done?
Dead lights
Piercing through these closed blinds
Our kind
Will not leave a trace
We might
Never put each other right
Never win this war we fight
Never reunite
Never reunite
Never reunite
Dead lights
Have you something for the pain?
Give you something for the pain
Again, again, again
---
Lost words in the distance
I touch my scars I can never fully heal
My spectrum is frozen
They tell me to
Put up and deal with it
We sound the siren and itβs deafeningly loud
You saw the collision
This flame is burning
Do you remember
Weβre spikes in the system
I wear my scars theyβve become a part of me
My spectrum is frozen
No longer will we put up and deal with it
You sound the silence and itβs deafeningly loud
You saw the collision
This flame is burning
Do you remember
Shake my head into my hands
Radiate this prism vision
This pain is not unspoken
Itβs mute but loud and broken x 3
The chains we carry can be broken with words
Take a moment to listen, we have the right to be heard.
Itβs a vision so simple to understand and derive, we have to shout in order for our future sisters to survive
In peace
Knowing that your voice is free
From oppression, aggression and the tirade of tyranny
oppression, aggression and the tirade of tyranny
oppression, aggression and the tirade of tyranny
From dead lights to bold skies
