As always, I like to try and include a little bit of a story to go with these songs but this time I'm not sure it's such a good idea... the contents of this song are very, very dark.

My songwriting is a very strange process, my muse can vary to from something quite abstract to something obvious to something so-close-to-the-bone that it's almost uncomfortable to delve into. Bad Blood is definitely one of those songs.

This song is about an experience I had with a very poisonous person. We've all met someone once in our lives who's main agenda was to manipulate and cause damage. The aftermath is often incredible painful and can leave you feeling shaken to your core. For me, song-writing can be the only thing I'm able to do when I feel powerless, and it's something I've used all my life to process trauma and exorcise anger.

A song can take you to the darkest part of yourself and hold a mirror up, you can pour all that emotion into it and then leave it behind. You let go of all that negative energy that was given to you and instead of turning it inwards, you create a musical expression that others can enjoy and perhaps identify with. This, creating something positive in place of the negative.

Phew.

Ok, I hope that makes sense, and more importantly, I hope you like the song... it's jazzy and totally bonkers. Standard ;)
